Maintaining a clean, safe work area and assisting with other tasks as directed are also essential parts of the role. How You Will Help * Work from assembly pickup sheets, parts catalogs, detail drawings and shop order packing lists. * Draw out components from cold storage area. * Fill out shortage sheets and store hardware items in wire baskets or material carts. * Work from various documents (i.e. drawing details, packing list, pickup sheets, and fabrication sheets) to verify and visually inspect for correctness of items, quantities, proper finishes and obvious defects. * Dimensionally inspect fabricated components for hole locations, length, radius, stud or ear locations, height and width, utilizing tape measures or scales. When applicable, question the correctness of engineering documentation. * Assemble various hanger assemblies using a wide variety of tools including ratchets, torque wrenches, vise, hammer, pliers, and vise grips. * Correctly identify threaded components and chase tapped holes or threaded components with an assortment of tools such as thread files, taps, dies, and threads chasers when required. * Work form packing procedures, instructions, or at the direction of supervisor to properly prepare and pack materials for shipment. Use hoist mechanisms and/or a forklift for heavier items. Properly sling and/or choke items so as to safely lift without damage to components or cause injury to self or others. * Make up boxes, crates, skids or cartons using tape machines, staple gun, saw, power nailer and drill in accordance with customer specification. Ensure that boxes, crates, etc. are properly lined for export shipment when required. Determine necessity and use proper fill materials (i.e. foam, shredded paper, rolled cardboard, bubble-pak, etc. * Secure shipping containers using the necessary material such as staple gun, tape, protective strips, twist pliers, and steel banding machines. * Complete all required documentation, attach packing list to enclosure, transfer all necessary information to exterior of package and forward completed packages to loading dock area for shipment.
