Job Summary
The Mechanical Assembler within our pharmacy maintenance department specializes in assembling, installing, and maintaining the mechanical systems that are critical to our mail-order operations. This role focuses on the precise fabrication and repair of conveyor systems, automated packaging machinery, and other industrial equipment that ensures the accurate and timely processing and shipping of pharmaceutical products.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble, install, and maintain mechanical components of conveyor systems, packaging machines, labeling equipment, and other automation used in the pharmacy fulfillment process.
Read and interpret mechanical schematics, blueprints, and layout plans to perform precise assembly and modifications to existing equipment.
Use hand tools (e.g., wrenches, screwdrivers) and power tools (e.g., drills, grinders) to fit, align, and adjust parts, ensuring proper function and minimal vibration.
Perform preventative maintenance tasks, including the disassembly and reassembly of machinery for cleaning, lubrication, and part replacement.
Collaborate with Maintenance Technicians and Electro-Mechanical teams to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues that cause production stoppages.
Conduct basic operational tests on assembled or repaired equipment to verify performance before returning it to the production floor.
Fabricate simple replacement parts or brackets as needed using available materials and tools.
Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent on assembly and maintenance tasks, following Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and compliance regulations specific to a pharmaceutical maintenance environment.
Keep the maintenance workshop and assembly areas clean, organized, and safe, properly storing all tools and components.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
A technical certificate or apprenticeship in mechanical assembly, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
2+ years of experience in a mechanical assembly role, preferably within a manufacturing, distribution, or packaging environment.
Basic English with the ability to read and write.
Skills & Abilities:
Strong understanding of mechanical concepts (gears, bearings, drives, pneumatics) and the ability to work with complex machinery.
Proficiency in reading and interpreting mechanical drawings and schematics.
Skilled and safe use of a wide array of hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers).

What You Will Do
Work from procedures, preliminary sketches, operations sheets, layouts, complicated drawings, written engineering, supervisor or lead mechanic or electronic work instructions.
Layout, fabricates, assemble, and modify jet engine assembly or test articles, test stands, equipment, and support systems. Use a wide variety of power and mechanical tools to perform functional checks on engine assembly/components or test equipment/test components.
Operate a wide variety of tools to assemble/disassemble a jet engine or APU or operate support utilities to run the test article. Check all phases of assembly/disassembly including inspecting critical functions for final inspection ensuring adherence to quality standards. Monitor instrumentation and perform engine service during test.
Assist in the training activity of not more than two other team members during the assembly/disassembly or test process to ensure safe operation.
Complete appropriate documentation/sign-off in assembly/disassembly or test procedures as required.
After assembly, ensure test article is prepared for delivery to test cell.
Perform basic instrumentation troubleshooting for test. Reconfigure or repair test stand, test systems and test equipment. Troubleshoot and maintain test facilities, support systems, and special test equipment. Inspect, maintain and complete necessary reporting on equipment, facilities and support systems. Remove instrumentation, equipment and utilities to de-prep, dismount, and preserve test article for shipment.
Ensure all functions are performed according to Pratt & Whitney, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) and Quality policies. Perform other related work assignments as required or directed by supervision and/or lead mechanics that support department objectives.
