Student employees will support the Theater & Dance department's productions, specifically in the areas of technical production, as required by a specific production's needs. This position will be specialized toward the technology components of the theatrical process (lighting, sound, video, etc.), but will also have crossover with the scenic and carpentry responsibilities as needed. This position will also support the technology needs for campus events taking place in the Kaleidoscope (lectures, dinners, ceremonies, etc.)
Work is done in the Kaleidoscope's scene shop, Lenfest Theater, and Blackbox Studio Theater, under the direct supervision of the Theater & Dance department's Technical Director & Production Manager and Performing Arts Technician. Schedule may vary weekly. Some evening and weekend hours will likely be required during a production's load in period and tech weekend, and during campus events taking place in the building.
Typical work week may average between 12 and 20 hours.
Responsibilities:
Learn and practice a variety of skills (depending on the needs of the production) primarily including hanging and focusing lights, setting up microphones and speakers, and (as needed for the production), scenic carpentry, metalworking, scenic painting, and theatrical rigging.
Support the technology needs for campus events taking place in the Kaleidoscope (lectures, dinners, ceremonies, etc.)
Train on the theaters fly-system and operation along with other specified theatrical equipment.
Help with the set-up of both theater spaces for rehearsal and technical rehearsals.
Assist in scheduled maintenance and organization of shop and theater gear and equipment.
Requirements:
Current full-time student at Ursinus College
Must learn shop and theater safety requirements and adhere to those protocols during work calls.
Must be able to lift 25-50lbs.
Must be comfortable with, and/or, willing to, work at heights.
Prior experience in technical theater is preferred, but not required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Electrical Schematics: Read, understand and use electrical schematics to wire motors, control panels and switches in accordance with local and national electrical codes (NEC, NEMA, ASME, etc.).
• Job Documentation: Read, understand and use equipment diagrams, checklists, and other documentation to assemble blower and compressor packages per customer requirements.
• Wire & Program Control Panels: Wire preassembled control panel to blower assembly, Wire low voltage switches, transmitters, thermostats and sensors in blower package, Connect VFD to blower package.

Able to work under a microscope. Fine motor skills, dexterity, and excellent hand-eye coordination required

Your Profile:

The Assembly Technician is responsible for assembling intricate and highly complex medical devices and aerospace sub-assemblies to meet the exacting quality standards of our customers, internal quality requirements, and regulatory standards of ISO 13485:2016 and AS9100. It requires collaboration among Engineering, Quality and Production teams. This role requires a high level of manual dexterity, attention to detail, and the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and assembly schematics.
🔧 What You'll Do:
Assemble complex and intricate medical devices and aerospace components according to blueprints, job requirements, work instructions, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Follow precise assembly steps, ensuring compliance with form, fit and function, tolerances, and customer specifications.
Perform visual inspections and functional testing of assembled components to identify and resolve defects before final quality control checks.
Operate specialized assembly equipment, such as custom fixtures, press-fit machines, and adhesive dispensers, as required.
Accurately document work, including quality/inspection documentation, time & quantity in production records, job travelers, and ERP/Scheduling systems.
Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to resolve assembly-related challenges and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Assist in process development and validation of new assembly procedures.
Support Continuous Improvement, Lean Manufacturing and 5S principles to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
May work in a cleanroom or controlled environment, maintaining strict cleanliness and contamination control procedures.
✅ What You Bring:
High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or associate degree in mechanical assembly, precision machining, or related field preferred.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in precision assembly of medical devices, aerospace components, or similarly intricate mechanical/electromechanical systems.
Familiarity with ISO 13485:2016 and AS9100 quality management system standards preferred.
Strong understanding of blueprint reading, and work instruction interpretation. Understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) a plus.
Experience with cleanroom assembly procedures (a plus).
Proficiency in using hand tools, torque wrenches, microscopes, and precision measuring equipment.

To maintain all mall owned and operated heating, ventilation and air conditioning equipment in order to provide safe, efficient and effective operation. This position is on call 24 hours per day, 7 days per week to assist the operations department in handling emergencies at the property level.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate's responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:
Work in cooperation with other contracted mechanical services as retained by management.
Report all situations requiring emergency and/or immediate action to the appropriate personnel.
Troubleshoot various systems including plumbing, electrical, heating, air conditioning, refrigeration, and other systems as required to determine source of malfunction and repair.
Conduct scheduled inspections and preventive maintenance to designated equipment; make adjustments to equipment and controls to ensure operations are in compliance with specifications and/or standards.
Install, maintain and make repairs to electrical, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment as needed.
Perform the job in accordance with all applicable standards, policies and regulatory guidelines (i.e. EPA, OSHA standards) to promote a safe working environment.
