The Department of Psychology at Baldwin Wallace University invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor position beginning in Fall of 2026. A PhD degree is required; however, candidates who have not yet had their degree conferred (i.e., ABD) may be considered with an expected completion of the degree within the first year of employment. All areas of specialization will be considered, yet special consideration will be given to applicants with the ability to develop community partnerships and/or service learning opportunities involving students. The position will start August 1, 2026.
We are primarily a teaching University and are looking for applicants with well-developed teaching skills. Faculty members teach a total of 21-24 credit hours per academic year. The successful applicant will be expected to teach applied courses that engage students in the Greater Cleveland community. This could be through a service learning course, internship course, or applied research course in the field. They would also be expected to teach any of our required courses, including Intro to Psychology, Statistics, SPSS, Research Methods and Thesis, in addition to a lower level topical seminar. They also may be asked to develop new courses in their area of specialization.
The Psychology Department currently has 7 full-time members representing the main sub-disciplines in the field. The Psychology major is one of the largest majors on campus, and the department is housed in the Neal Malicky Center for the Social Sciences, which has dedicated research space for human research. Faculty members involve undergraduate students in their research program. The successful candidate will engage in an active program of applied research (either on campus or off campus with a healthcare/nonprofit/ community agency partner) where undergraduates will be able to improve their skills and make meaningful contributions.
All faculty members serve as academic advisors and participate in a shared governance system. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry is approved by the American Chemical Society (ACS) and offers a program that leads to a B.S. in Chemistry, with optional concentrations in Biochemistry and Chemical Physics. The department currently includes four full-time tenured faculty, a research scholar in residence, a general chemistry lab coordinator, a half-time administrative assistant, a half-time laboratory technician, and a central stores manager who also serves as the chemical hygiene officer. A fifth tenured professor in chemistry currently serves as Associate Dean in the College of Arts and Sciences. The department graduates 10-20 majors each year, with approximately two-thirds engaging in research projects both on and off campus. We seek doctoral prepared nurses with a teaching portfolio that demonstrates a record of accomplishment in the classroom, curriculum design & development and student outcomes. Duties include teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels with both face-to-face courses and web-based courses. These positions are on-campus. This role prepares undergraduate students to successfully complete the John Carroll University Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) curriculum as an extension of the lead course faculty. This position works in-person from our campus in University Heights, Ohio and an assigned clinical site which varies each semester. This is a part-time role. Reporting to the Dean, the part-time adjunct faculty will function as a Primary Instructor of the Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Programs serving Lorain County and surrounding communities. Adjunct Faculty will consistently adhere to college policy and procedure in the instruction and delivery of the State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) course while maintaining compliance with state regulations governing nurse aide training programs in Ohio. Ongoing responsibilities include student guidance, assessment of student learning and the support of student success in college vision, mission and values. Teaching assignments will be based on student and program needs and may include lecture, lab and clinical components, day and evening hours hosted at a variety classroom locations and local nursing homes. Local travel will be required.
