    FACILITIES/CUSTODIAN The Custodian is responsible for a variety of tasks including washing, mopping, scrubbing, dusting and sweeping. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Conducts routine building inspections daily and identifies areas requiring follow-up action. • Informs Maintenance Supervisor immediately of areas requiring action. • Performs clean-up tasks on surrounding grounds and structures. • Cleans, shampoos, and/or disinfects carpets, rugs, and restrooms in accordance with established procedures. • Opens and secures building; sets security alarm. • Receives and stores school custodial supplies. • Dusts and polishes furniture, window ledges, and all horizontal surfaces. • Assists in setting up facilities for special events. • Moves materials, equipment, and furniture as necessary. • Ensures floors are cleaned, mopped, stripped, and waxed as necessary. • Maintains equipment to ensure proper working condition and cleanliness; stores equipment as appropriate. • Required to have prompt, regular attendance for scheduled shifts during regular business hours. • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative. Conducts limited grounds maintenance activities. Ensures heating and cooling systems are operational and maintained. Maintains cleanliness and organization in the janitor's room, ensuring adequate stock of cleaning and maintenance supplies. Washes windows. Assists in inspecting the school for safety hazards and reports any deficiencies to the lead custodian, principal, or school resource officer. Keep dumpsters and immediate outside areas of the campus clean from litter and debris. Properly maintains all equipment and materials used for tasks, keeping them clean and in good working order. Moves equipment and furniture to rearrange offices and classrooms or for cleaning purposes. Replaces fluorescent light bulbs and other bulbs, including exit lights and signs, as needed in ceilings up to 10 feet in height. Notifies the Lead Custodian of any equipment needing repairs, physical problems within the facility, vandalism, or theft. This position is designated as essential to the operations of the organization and is critical to ensuring the continuity of services. Employees in this role may be required to report to work during emergencies, inclement weather, or other situations that disrupt normal operations. Occasional lifting objects weighing up to 75 pounds. Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor Other Functions: Daily attendance and punctuality are required for the purpose of ensuring the goals of the work unit may be met. Working Environment: The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: bending/stooping/standing to perform tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or handling supplies, and 15% occasional lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, such as moving furniture, equipment, or heavy cleaning materials.
