JOB SUMMARY
Atwell specializes in power generation and power delivery services including electrical high-voltage, substations, switchyard, transmission line, distribution design, overhead & underground collection systems, and renewable energy power generation facilities such as Windfarms, PV/Solar farms, and BESS facilities.
The Structural Engineer will support the project team by leading design aspects of the project and will address engineering issues for various projects. In this full-time role, an employee will be expected to develop and demonstrate proficiency in regards to the essential functions of the job found below.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Lead and Support Project Teams: Guide project team members on various assignments under the direction of the Project Manager, providing technical training and mentorship to ensure project success.
Collaborate on Projects & Proposals: Work closely with team members and clients to develop project plans, prepare proposals, and ensure all deliverables meet quality and timeline expectations.
Draft & Review Technical Documents: Prepare, review, and finalize site plans, reports, utility computations, project schedules, permit applications, and due diligence/site analysis reports. Provide recommendations to the Project Manager regarding project direction.
Implement Revisions & Compliance Updates: Modify plans and documents based on feedback from agencies, municipalities, and clients, ensuring compliance with local and state regulations.
Conduct Research & Field Assessments: Perform research on local/state zoning requirements, conduct site visits, and complete field assignments as needed to support project development.
Analyze Survey Data & Site Conditions: Review survey data, ALTA surveys, legal descriptions, and easement documents to assess site feasibility and development considerations.
Utilize Engineering Software: Apply AutoCAD Civil 3D and other engineering software to efficiently complete assignments while adhering to Atwell's Product Quality Manual standards.
Manage Client & Agency Communications: Engage with clients, municipalities, and regulatory agencies, responding to review letters and coordinating project updates in collaboration with the Project Manager.
Provide Project Updates & Status Reports: Keep the Project Manager and Team Leader informed on workload status, ensuring project timelines and objectives are met.
Apply Engineering Principles & Best Practices: Utilize fundamental engineering concepts and industry best practices to deliver high-quality project outcomes.
Demonstrate Strong Workload Management: Effectively prioritize and manage tasks to meet project deadlines and maintain efficiency.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering.
Master's preferred in Structural or Civil Engineering.
REQUIREMENTS
Eight (8) plus years of experience in structural analysis and design of steel and concrete foundations and platforms for solar PV systems (racking and tracking structures), electrical and mechanical equipment, and miscellaneous structures for utility-scale solar projects.
Experience preferred in structural analysis and design of structures for substation and T-line projects.
Experience working on Utility Scale Solar and BESS projects.
Experience in STAAD.Pro, ROBOT, L-PILE, or equivalent software.
Experience preferred in PLS-POLE, PLS-CADD, FAD TOOLS, or equivalent software.
Registration as PE.
Registration as SE preferred.
Must have experience in Renewable Energy and/or Substation and/or T&D.

THE ROLE
The Project Manager will lead the planning, designing, permitting, assisting, funding, bidding, and performing of construction administration as it relates to civil engineering water and wastewater infrastructure work. Lead and manage construction administration tasks, including submittal and Request For Information (RFI) review, progress payment review, compliance with funding agency provisions, and oversight of onsite construction project representative staff.
Analyze water/wastewater facilities for system deficiencies regarding compliance with local, state, and federal standards and regulations. Provide improvement alternatives to meet compliance with such regulations.
Assist the Senior Manager in engaging with community members, government officials, and other stakeholders to communicate project goals, address concerns, and gather input on water and wastewater initiatives.
