The primary purpose and function of the Area Chief of Staff is to lead, develop and manage associate veterinarians in their hospitals to ensure Banfield can attract, develop, engage and retain doctors that will deliver quality care and meet expected hospital performance measures. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
+ Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
+ Serve as a champion for quality by communicating, demonstrating and driving a culture of quality and safety at the hospital level to optimize medical care, client experience, associate engagement and hospital performance.
+ Perform regular hospital visits and quality audits to ensure hospital compliance with industry, regulatory and Banfield quality standards while building associate veterinarian engagement.
+ Develop, coach, and manage associate veterinarians on the technical and functional skills needed to be successful in their role and deliver outstanding, high quality medical care that aligns with our six domains of quality and supports the business by delivering on hospital performance expectations.
+ In partnership with the Director of Veterinary Quality (DVQ), drive a successful and growing doctor team through recruiting, gathering referrals, assisting with interviews, and leading onboarding and training of new associate and locum veterinarians in their hospitals.
+ Develop associate and lead veterinarians to coach new hires and deliver an exceptional onboarding and mentorship experience.
+ Deliver on veterinary quality KPIs to support the hospital, market and practice OGSMs.
+ Perform clinical skill and leadership competency development of associate and lead veterinarians to deliver high quality medical care and outstanding client service.
+ In partnership with the Regional P&O Co-Pilot (POCP) and the DVQ, identify and develop future veterinary talent for leadership roles within the practice.
+ Drive doctor engagement and retention efforts in partnership with DVQ, POCP and operations by implementing strategies to reduce turnover risk and provide consistent support at the hospital level. Support the engagement and retention of certified veterinary technicians (CVTs).
+ Responsible for medical equipment inventory and functionality in assigned hospitals and manage requests for additional medical equipment in partnership with the DVQ and Regional Vice President of Veterinary Quality (VPVQ).
+ Partner with the Practice Manager (PM) to manage medical equipment maintenance and calibration in accordance with practice and equipment supplier standards.
+ Actively participate in local, state, and national veterinary organizations to cultivate relationships within the veterinary profession (i.e. regulatory boards, vendors, associations, and referral hospitals) to promote Banfield's brand reputation.
+ Ensure hospital operations meet all local, state and federal regulatory requirements including but not limited to compliance with controlled substance management and radiation safety.

The summer student patient care associate is a student enrolled full-time in an AVMA accredited veterinary technician/technologist/nursing training program. Students will be employed as temporary associates for 8-12 weeks, between May and September. Students will be immersed in specialty and emergency medicine to augment the medical knowledge and technical skill that they have acquired thus far in school. The summer student patient care associate will assist the doctors, technicians, and advanced patient care associates with all aspects of patient care and client communication.
As a Student Patient Care Associate, you will:
Possess knowledge of basic veterinary terminology and abbreviations
Able to appropriately and safely restrain canine and feline patients
Able to perform a basic physical examination to collect patient vital signs
Triage patients over the phone and in-person
Collect a basic history from a client
Ability to input patient data into the medical record system. Document treatments administered, treatment adjustments per the attending doctor, and communication with the doctor, client, or primary care veterinarian.
Assist clinician and technicians through the exam and diagnostic workup process
Effectively communicate discharge instructions to a client
Support clinician and client through the euthanasia process
Participate in the delivery of basic and advanced life support as directed by the clinician
Perform phlebotomy
Place intravenous catheter
Accurately perform basic medical math
Administer subcutaneous fluids
Administer SQ, IM, or IV injections
Operate basic equipment including fluid pumps, syringe pumps, SpO2 monitor, ETCO2 monitor, indirect blood pressure monitors (Doppler and oscillometric)
Run basic in-house diagnostic tests including CBC, chemistry panel, urinalysis, coagulation profiles, blood gases, and process slides for cytologic interpretation
Obtain diagnostic quality radiographs using proper techniques and personal protective equipment
Students with prior veterinary medical experience or in advanced stages of their curriculum may be able to complete:
Placement of the indwelling urinary catheter
Bandage application
Endotracheal intubation
Anesthesia monitoring
Assist clinician in advanced procedures such as endoscopy or surgical assist
QUALIFICATIONS
Must be a full-time student enrolled in an AVMA accredited r veterinary technician/technologist/nursing program.
Must be available for a minimum of 8 weeks and a maximum of 12 weeks during May - September.
No prior emergency or specialty medicine experience is required. However, animal experience is preferred.

As the Chaplain/Spiritual Caregiver, you will provide spiritual care to Hospice patients and their families.
**Primary Responsibilities:**
+ Demonstrate proficiency in providing spiritual care to persons of all races, ages, genders, sexual orientation, social class, and mental/emotional status
+ Demonstrate ability for patient/caregiver to lead the spiritual conversation, for the Chaplain to walk alongside him/her in his/her spiritual journey and refraining from sharing one's own beliefs unless asked to do so by the patient/caregivers
+ Demonstrate knowledge of a wide range of spiritual resources to support each person's belief system, provide resources as appropriate, and network with other religious leaders in the community to refer patients/caregivers to these leaders when necessary
+ Demonstrate ability to work efficiently and effectively within the Interdisciplinary Team and provide insight in the IDG meeting concerning the patient/caregiver's emotional and spiritual needs

**Required Qualifications:**
+ Two units of Clinical Pastoral Education or Bachelor's degree in theology, divinity, pastoral care, philosophy, religion or related discipline
+ 2+ years of experience in a health care setting and/or related pastoral experience
+ Documentation of current endorsement or acceptable language (licensing, ordination, etc.) in accordance with the applicant's spiritual/faith tradition.
+ Faith groups must be recognized by the Armed Forces Chaplains Board
+ Documentation that demonstrates that the candidate is in good standing with their spiritual/faith group with no ethical charges current or pending
+ Current CPR certification
+ Current driver's license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation
+ Ability to minister to patients and families in crisis
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Four units of Clinical Pastoral Education or Master's degree in theology, divinity, pastoral care, philosophy, religion or related discipline

SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION The Veterinary Assistant supports the veterinarians and veterinary technicians in ensuring quality veterinary care for all pets, advocates for pets, educates clients on all aspects of pet health, and ensures a safe and effective hospital environment.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
+ Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
+ Act as the extra eyes, ears and hands for the veterinarian and veterinary technician to ensure the best quality pet care and to maximize the veterinarian's and veterinary technician's productivity.
Communicate with veterinarian, veterinary technicians and all other associates to maintain the flow of patients.
+ Provide professional, efficient and exceptional service at all times. This includes performing or preparing procedures that do not require veterinarian or veterinary technician assistance, completing preparatory work for other procedures, ensuring that clients and pets are comfortable in the hospital, and monitoring hospitalized or surgical pets as allowed in the state practice acts.
+ Educate clients about Optimum Wellness Plans, preventive care, pet health needs, hospital services and other issues.
+ Obtain relevant information and history from clients and maintain proper and complete medical charts.
+ Ensure the safety of pets, clients and associates by utilizing safe restraining techniques, following standard protocols, and maintaining clean, sterile and organized treatment areas, exam rooms and labs.
+ Assist with surgery as applicable.
+ Utilize technical skills to the fullest, within state practice acts and as outlined in the NAVTA guidelines for veterinary assistant skills and duties.
+ Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.
+ Other job duties as assigned.
