Lock up clinic and dispensary when leaving in the evening
Pharmacy refill requests

Ordering supplies- check prices, order, keep log/supply list, check in supplies, stock/distribute, and remind staff on ordering dates if needed
Medical records/test- explain and check for completion, follow up calls to doctors offices/patients, make appointments, notes in system, fax records, file records upon arrival, give doctor records to sign off on.
Patient- take vital signs (BP, Wt., Ht.), intake/medical history on patient, prepare patient for doctors' examination or procedure, position instruments and equipment, assist physician/provider with exams & procedures, clean exam room after patient and set up for next patient.
Administer/perform - vaccines/immunizations, ear lavages, hemoglobin sticks, urinalysis, TB test, vision and hearing screenings, injections and other services as prescribed/directed by the provider.
Lab duties- draw blood, collect prepare and send specimen to lab, print all labs, give to provider to review and sign off on, change sharps container, follow up quest for any missing lab results/test/specimens and order quest lab supplies
Answer phones, check patients in and make calls as needed/directed to keep patient flow
Appointments- make appointments, confirm appointments and send missed appointment letters as needed.
Translate for doctors/patients as needed
Stock and restock rooms with supplies and make sure supplies are available
Enter patients in link
Hand out paper work to patients, make copies, and call Dr. offices for medical records as needed
Chart maintenance, order, pulling and updating as needed
Dispensary- open and close, insure in compliance, no expired medication (expiration dates), medication logged,

Basic knowledge of referrals, both in and out of the BHS treatment system.

Independently perform and/or coordinate the following back-office functions:

May also perform clerical and information technology functions for medical providers in a clinic setting, including primary responsibility for the operation of electronic health records and electronic dictation systems. Primary goal is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the Provider. Must be able to anticipate Provider's needs to facilitate the flow of clinic. Must be discreet, tactful, and unobtrusive in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care. Good judgment, organizational ability, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated are especially important. Must be adaptable and versatile. Provides coverage to clinics throughout the ACHC network. Good attendance is an important element of this job.
EXAMPLES OF TASKS
Prepares patient and area for procedures.
Patient Intake
Obtains vital signs (pulse, respiration, blood pressure, temperature)
Measures Height and Weighs patient
Performs vision screening and Audiometry screening
Obtains reason for visit to Health Center
Obtains History (immunization, allergies, family, surgery, obstetric/Gynecological)
Obtains specimens using correct collection technique. i.e. Urine (clean catch), Capillary for glucose, hemoglobin, lead, HA1C, and Cholesterol
As directed, assist Provider on patient care examination and treatment procedures.
When acting as a Scribe:
Transcribe a history and physical exam, and document accurately the Provider's encounter with the patient and others present.
List all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the Provider.
Transcribe patient orders including laboratory & radiology tests, medications, etc.
Document any procedures performed by the provider.
Discharge of patients
Ask patient if instructions are clear for return visit.
Check encounter forms for all required signatures and information.
Assist patient to check-out / appointment.
Daily Tasks
Open exam rooms.
Check/turn on the otoscope/ophthalmoscopes
Check pelvic equipment/instruments
Check that all appropriate supplies are available.
Clean exam tables and countertops.
Check and log refrigerator temperatures.
Perform quality controls
Maintains and enters information on computer system, as well as documentation in patient charts.
Perform other routines and tasks as assigned.
Travel to other clinics as needed for coverage.
Work overtime as needed.
Qualifications
SKILLS
Medical terminology.
Recognition of physical exam process and ability to record exam details.
Computer proficiency and ability to quickly learn new applications.
Legible handwriting and ability to accurately record information.
Organizational skills with focus on tracking patient care and improving patient flow.

EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
Education and experience as a MedicalAssistant
Prefer one to two years of experience.
History working with NextGen software and medical coding training, or certification are preferred but not required.
Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Maintain all logs required for St. John's dental equipment, in compliance with prescribed auditing tools.
