Requirements Key Responsibilities: Prepare and clean surgical instruments for sterilization according to established protocols. Operate sterilization equipment such as autoclaves to ensure all instruments are properly sterilized. Inspect and maintain instruments for functionality and cleanliness. Organize and store sterile instruments and supplies in designated areas. Adhere to infection control and safety standards at all times. Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. Certification in sterile processing (e.g., Certified Registered Central Service Technician - CRCST) is preferred. Experience in a sterile processing department or healthcare environment is highly desirable (minimum of 2 years). Knowledge of sterilization techniques and infection control practices. Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. Must be a U.S. Citizen. Proof of training and competency in sterile processing. At least 2 years of recent sterile processing experience. Compliance with AAMI, AORN, FDA, OSHA standards. Annual VA trainings (HIPAA, infection control, safety, etc.). Standard immunizations (TB, Hep B, Flu, etc.). A cert (CRCST, CBSPD, etc.) is not required, but would strengthen a candidate. SUMMARY The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) assists the Medical Providers (Physician, Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant) within scope of practice. CMAs also perform clerical and information technology functions for medical providers in a clinic setting, including primary responsibility for the operation of electronic health records and electronic dictation systems. The CMA's primary goal is to increase the efficiency and productivity of the Provider. The CMA must be able to anticipate Provider's needs to facilitate the flow of clinic. The CMA must be discreet, tactful, and unobtrusive in performance of duties so as not to distract medical staff from patient care. Good judgment, organizational ability, initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to be self-motivated are especially important. A CMA must be adaptable and versatile. Good attendance is an important element of this job. RESPONSIBILITES Prepares patient and area for procedures. Patient Intake: Obtains vital signs (pulse, respiration, blood pressure, temperature). Measures height and weighs patient. Performs vision screening and audiometry screening. Obtains reason for visit to Health Center. Obtains History (immunization, allergies, family, surgery, obstetric/ Gynecological).
