The Behavioral Health Technician provides direct supervision of the Residential clients in treatment. Behavioral Health Technicians work directly with the clients supervising all daily activities. Clients in treatment reside at the agency's main campus and therefore Behavioral Health Technicians are needed for direct client supervision 24 hours and 7 days per week. Responsibilities and Duties

Odyssey House Louisiana, Inc. is seeking a full-time Behavioral Health Technician. The schedule is 6am-6pm; with rotating shifts, including weekends, and holidays as needed. The Behavioral Health Technician provides direct supervision of clients in treatment. Behavioral Health Technicians work directly with the clients supervising all daily activities. Behavioral Health Technicians are needed for direct client supervision 24 hours and 7 days per week. All Behavioral Health Technicians report directly to the Behavioral Health Technician Supervisor and are expected to work closely with all clinical, medical, and other Residential staff to ensure clients receive comprehensive substance abuse treatment services.
Responsibilities and Duties
It is the duty and responsibility of the Behavioral Health Technician to:
ensure a safe environment for clients;
exercise therapeutic communication skills;
take steps to de-escalate distressed clients;
observe and document client behavior;
assist with therapeutic and recreational activities;
monitor clients' physical well-being;
provide input regarding client progress to the interdisciplinary team;
oversee the activities of the facility when there is no professional staff on duty;
assess situations related to relapse and to provide access to appropriate medical care when needed;
function as client advocate;
monitor residents to ensure their compliance with daily schedules and to ensure their safety at all times;

assist with the planning and organization of therapeutic client activities both on and off the program campus;
conduct urine screens as requested and complete all required documentation;
facilitate and supervise all client feedback meetings;
facilitate and monitor client phone calls;
facilitate and supervise any community or in-house 12 step meetings (must be present);
complete client bed checks every 20 minutes or as requested by Program Manager and complete required documentation via emails during night runs;
complete facility security rounds and ensure all doors and gates are locked and secured when appropriate;
submit shift reports to BHT Supervisor throughout shift via email as requested;
contact BHT Supervisor in the event of a fire or evacuation of the treatment facility as required;
perform property searches on all new clients as requested and perform searches on clients returning to the program from outside activities (NO CAVITY SEARCH);
assist with other program functions as requested by BHT Supervisor including but not limited to transportation and monitoring of the front desk;
assist with providing clients cigarettes as scheduled per shift requiring staff to be in a smoking area with all clients smoking at one time; and
perform other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities
Instructional Support & Student Services
Support students at varying levels of proficiency
Scaffold academic language within core content to ensure access to grade-level standards
Design and implement language-rich interventions that prioritize oral language development, academic vocabulary, and reading comprehension
Monitor progress and adjust instruction based on student performance data, classroom observations, and formative assessments
Collaboration & Coaching
Partner with general education and special education teachers to co-plan and differentiate instruction for English learners
Support teachers in making student thinking visible through structured talk, sentence frames, and written expression strategies
Provide guidance on integrating language objectives into daily instruction and assessments
Share best practices for culturally responsive teaching and language acquisition strategies
Data & Compliance
Conduct ongoing assessments of English language proficiency (e.g., ELPT) and maintain accurate records of student progress
Analyze data from classroom performance, language assessments, and student work to drive instructional decisions
Ensure all EL students receive required accommodations on assessments and in instruction
Maintain documentation and support school EL compliance
Family & Schoolwide Engagement
Communicate regularly with families about student progress, goals, and resources in accessible and respectful ways
Participate in the development and implementation of individualized English Learner plans
Support the school's vision for inclusion, equity, and linguistic diversity through schoolwide initiatives and events

Education and Certification:
Bachelor's degree (preferred)
Degree in content area (preferred)
Content area certification (preferred)
Experience and Skills:
Proven track record of helping students develop academic skills that support classroom and school success
Ability to maintain composure and consistency in high-stress situations
Strong organizational and documentation skills
Clear, direct communication skills with both students and adults
Prior experience working with youth in an educational or behavioral support setting preferred

BENEFITS
RISE employees are paid twice a month on the 15th and last day of each month.
Jefferson RISE pays the following employee-only benefit costs for all full-time employees: coverage 85% of medical premiums and 100% of dental, vision, short and long term disability premiums. The Employee covers the remaining costs, including 15% employee medical and all spouse/dependent costs. RISE provides a 401(k) retirement plan to all W-2 employees, including a match of up to 100% of contributions on the first 3% deferred, then 50% of contributions from 3% to 5%. There is no vesting period. Jefferson RISE reserves the right to offer different or additional benefits to the Employee at any time.
