Position Summary: COTA's Fleet System Engineer is responsible for being the department's expert on all technology installed and operated in COTA's vehicle fleet including but not limited to: Trapeze OPS, Trapeze Yard Manager, security cameras, maintenance telematics, and software supporting vehicle maintenance practices. The role will also support COTA's Battery Electric Bus program including bus validation testing after delivery, deployment, managing charging protocols and ongoing operation practices. Performs other duties in alignment with the COTA Strategic Plan and in support of the organization's vision to Move Every Life Forward. This Position is Responsible For: Learn, understand, and troubleshoot software and electrical systems utilized in the transit industry while ensuring the systems work in tandem and complement operation of the fleet. Provides support to the Battery Electric Buses (BEB) project testing in the fleet prototype buses, including Prototyping, "Validation," and "Proof of Concept" for continuous improvement of fleet vehicles and systems; Acquire detailed knowledge of all BEB systems on board including, but not limited to, electric motor, energy storage system (battery packs) electric HVAC system, inverters and assist Vehicle Maintenance with diagnostics, troubleshooting and repairs of unique BEB systems. Acquire a comprehensive knowledge of ABB COTA's charging system infrastructure and related station componentry with the logic of implementing and adjusting most-effective charging protocols. Utilize software available to monitor, measure and report efficiency of operators during BEB bus operation while understanding impact of BEB fleet for most efficient applications and opportunities for success. Function as the Vehicle Engineering Project Manager for all future electronic equipment additions and enhancements associated with the HD Bus and van fleet including, but not limited to, Trapeze OPS, Yard Manager and Telematics, as well as Connected Vehicle Environment hardware, security camera hardware upgrades and Automatic Passenger Counters (APC) equipment. Mentor interns, sharing knowledge and best practices to foster professional development and growth within the team. Effectively present information in various settings for individual, small, and large groups across the organization; Read, write, and comprehend instructions, correspondences and memos to/from COTA employees, OEM vendors and dealer representatives. Demonstrates excellent skills in problem solving issues with variables in all situations, as well as ability to work quickly when investigating and implementing technology solutions; and Demonstrates complex comprehensive and thorough technical writing skills. Actively participate in industry conferences and events where representatives from multiple transit agencies convene to discuss trends and challenges related to electric and hydrogen bus implementation. Advocate for collaborative approaches to electric and hydrogen vehicle deployment, emphasizing the benefits of knowledge sharing and collective action in advancing sustainable transportation goals. Participate in industry forums and working groups to share insights and lessons learned from collaborative efforts with other transit agencies. Ability to work at multiple COTA facilities and occasionally during all three VM shifts; Regular, predictable and punctual attendance required; and Performs other duties as assigned. At Minimum You'll Need: Requires an Associate's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, Engineering Technology, Networking, Information Technology and, HVAC and Electrical. Three (3) years' experience in use of computers and computer applications with an emphasis on equipment repair and maintenance. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered ASQ certifications preferred. Additional desired certifications include ASE, Electrical/Electronics, Welding and/or High Voltage Qualified. Commercial Driver's License desired. The Boeing Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) program area is working on several new development efforts for the Patriot Advanced Capability (PAC-3) RF seeker and is looking for an experienced Radar Seeker System Engineer, Senior, Lead or Principal, to support these efforts at the Boeing Jetplex facility in Huntsville, Alabama. Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) PAC-3 program is an air-defense, missile system designed to intercept tactical ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and advanced aircraft where Boeing is the original engineering manufacturer of the seeker. Boeing's radar seekers provide target data to the PAC-3 missile which enables it to acquire, intercept, and destroy threats using hit-to-kill technology. The PAC-3 Seeker team is a cross functional, highly skilled, motivated group embracing the beliefs that focused safety, execution, and lean manufacturing and business practices will secure our future, all while driving our product to be the seeker of choice for the PAC-3 program and future generations of weapon systems. Position Responsibilities: * Lead critical technical development efforts as a senior subject matter expert on RF theory, digital signal processing, and radar concepts. * Develop algorithms for radar signal processing techniques such as Kalman filtering, probabilistic and statistical modeling, and measurement processing from pulsed-Doppler waveforms. * Design algorithms that process signal returns into discriminated targets and track targets through mission timeline. * Define system performance requirements and ensure interface definition supports various functional components of the seeker's and missile's architecture. * Conduct analysis to optimize total system-of-systems performance or system architecture as applied to algorithmic functionality pertaining to the acquisition and tracking of targets. * Analyze seeker simulation data to identify areas for improvement and guide recommendations for system robustness in the presence of challenging operational environments. * Analyze algorithm performance with a focus on survivability, vulnerability, and susceptibility to identify necessary modifications to ensure mission success. * Review and modify the application of general digital signal processing techniques to the processing of reradiated signal content to ensure accurate signal characteristic identification. * Mentor early-career engineers and inexperienced DSP/algorithm engineers through regular knowledge transfer.
