Responsibilities
* Use a Gas Metal Arc and Metal Core Arc welding process to weld parts to print specifications.
* Inspect parts per print specifications.
* Set up and adjust welder and fixtures to print specifications.
* Use a carbon arc air gouging and cutting process for rework.
* Use hand grinders to fit parts, rework defective welds, and grind welds flush as needed.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Ability to read blueprints, use tape measure, understand weld symbols, basic math, reason and analyze.
* Previous welding experience preferred.

Using provided setup sheet operators verify correct filler metal is installed, changes filler as needed.
Adjusts weld gas flow per given wps instructions.
Sets up manual weld machine or downloads program per set up sheet instructions.
Verifies proper tooling is installed in the robot or staged in manual area.
Reviews weld requirements from weld prints (size, spacing, location, ECT).
Loads and locates parts into tooling per print and work instructions.

* Have a working knowledge of general welding practices and weld ability of metal groups within Customer specifications and welding certification.

Journeyman Welder Kings Bay, GA Journeyman Welder with five (5) years verifiable experience in the welding trade in heavy industrial applications (i.e., shipbuilding, power plant construction, commercial building construction or bridge construction). Must be proficient in Submerged Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Flux-Core Automatic Welding (FCAW) and Gas Tungston Arc Welding (GTAW).
Accomplish the tack welding and production welding of the ship's structures utilizing blueprints and technical work documents. Welding structures and fittings to include, but not limited to, bulkheads, equipment foundations, hangers, ladders, and stanchions; and fitting up and making structures ready for welding to include, but not limited to, chipping, beveling, hand-grinding and cleaning of surfaces to be welded. Perform post-weld clean-up of ship's structural repair areas.
Requirements:
Must have five (5) years verifiable experience in the welding trade in heavy industrial applications (i.e., shipbuilding, power plant construction, commercial building construction or bridge construction).
Must have the knowledge and ability to use proper welding practices, be skilled in blueprint reading and layout procedures with an emphasis on welding symbols, have experience in set up and use of grinding containments, must be certified in OSHA 10 and or OSHA 30, and must be proficient in Submerged Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Flux-Core Automatic Welding (FCAW) and Gas Tungston Arc Welding (GTAW).
Must, at a minimum, have High School/Vocational School diploma or GED Certificate.
Desired to have successfully completed a formal course of study in the assigned trade through either an apprentice program, community college, technical or trade school, military training, or formal company training program.
