The nursing technician functions under the direction and supervision of the RN. Under the supervision of the Clinical Director/Nurse Manager or delegate, the nursing technician assists in planning, organizing, implementing and evaluating the activities occurring in the nursing Unit. This position deals with a patient population ranging in age from adolescence to geriatrics with surgical/medical clinical focus.Job Description:Essential Responsibilities: Consistently demonstrates a familiarity with the duties required of a nursing technician and performs all duties accurately in accordance with departmental policies and procedures; readily observes or assists others to obtain further knowledge Consistently demonstrates competence in performing care, treatment and procedures as outlined in the Nursing technicians Clinical Skills List.Always follows the Nursing Care Plan; observes established policies and procedures for proper patient treatment and care MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: High School Diploma/GED; or C.N.A. certification; or equivalent related work experience required.Nursing Assistant Certification, prior LTAC or med/surg experience, or nursing clinical rotation, preferred.MOAB training preferred CPR Certification and First Aid training preferred, or must complete within 30 days of hire Excellent organizational skills Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with others.Experience with the use of computers preferred or familiarization with keyboard and typing skills preferred Familiarization with medical terminology POPULATION SPECIFIC CARE COMPETENCIES: Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the population of patients regularly served; seeks assistance from resources if other population groups need care.PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT: In-patient nursing floor setting PHYSICAL EFFORT REQUIRED; Physical ability to meet the core job responsibilities in accordance with med/surg nursing floor demands for patient populations regularly served.
