Johnson 2 is a 30 bed surgical adult unit. The average length of stay on J2 is 3.4 days with an average daily census of 22 patients. The majority of admissions to J2 are from the postoperative anesthesia care unit (PACU), followed by admissions from the emergency department who have an orthopedic, surgical or gastrointestinal diagnosis. There are 12 private rooms and 9 semi-private rooms that accommodate two patients each.
Patient Population J2 generally accepts patients 18 years of age and older with surgical conditions. Patients cared for on J2 range in age from young adult to geriatric. Patients are generally admitted to the surgical service, or to a hospitalist with the surgeon as consultant.
