Basic physical, emotional and educational assessment of patients undergoing cardiac catheterization. Analgesia and moderate sedation needs are assessed prior, during and post procedure by the nurse. Assistance to physicians performing diagnostic and interventional procedures; pharmacologic and hemodynamic support of patients before, during and after all invasive procedures. Post-procedural assessment, stabilization and transfer to appropriate medical/surgical service. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose Provides direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning implementation, and evaluation within the guidelines of the standards of nursing care. Responsibilities Promotes patient and family centered care in a healing environment. Educates patients and their families on how to manage their illness or injury, including post treatment home care needs and medication administration.
