We are seeking an experienced Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) Engineer to manage and optimize our digital delivery processes in the Advanced Manufacturing sector. This is site-based role with flexible home office location in the U.S. In this key role, you will provide VDC/BIM/Digital Delivery management and leadership by aligning technologies with internal and client goals and define digital delivery scope for project estimates, and coordinate project technical setup and model deliverables. As the VDC Lead, you will create and implement Design and Construction BIM Execution Plans for EPCM (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management); Integrate VDC tasks including 3D logistics and safety planning, 4D scheduling, 5D Cost and quantity take-offs; define, coordinate, administer and manage the use of the Common Data Environment (Autodesk Construction Cloud) from design to construction including Docs, Build, Coordination modules; kick-off, manage and track progress on Clash Detection for Design Teams and Trade Partners; lead clash resolution meetings; serve as BIM Subject Matter Expert on projects in design and construction; and coordinate laser scan data integration and facilitate Scan to BIM efforts. You will also manage model redline and as-built processes; verify construction install with model based practices; create project processes and lead mobile device trainings for field employees; lead and facilitate reality capture/for progress reporting and weekly reports for remote team members including 360 Photos, laser scans, drone data; and act as technology lead and offer in field technical troubleshooting, support for software, model viewing and mobile device applications. As the VDC Lead, you will be involved with stakeholder collaboration and act as the Digital Delivery and VDC stakeholder and lead on Design and Construction projects. You will consult during business development during proposals and estimates; collaborate with clients, representatives, and contractors; manage trade partner modeling efforts and quality through construction. In addition, you will support team development by developing training materials and offer technical guidance. You will recruit, manage, and mentor employees; and enhance team expertise through collaboration with subject matter experts. You will act as on-site management by providing daily on-site presence and leadership; coordinate VDC activities with field operations; and create, execute and own onsite VDC processes. The energy industry, particularly transmission grids, is undergoing major changes to accommodate for regional and global decarbonization and energy transition targets. HVDC technology in particular is increasingly becoming a major player in this energy paradigm shift to enable large-scale renewable energy generation, such as offshore wind or large interconnectors. As an Electrical Engineer - HVDC, you will closely work with regional and global HVDC and power transmission experts within Jacobs to support and/or lead ongoing HVDC related projects as well as business development and proposal support with a variety of clients including renewable developers, transmission owner/developers as well as utilities. The successful candidate shall demonstrate related experience and technical knowledge in the field of electrical high-voltage engineering, with emphasis on HVDC, through past experience with consulting engineering firms, developers and/or direct exposure to OEMs. Prior knowledge of electrical design/studies, functional/technical specifications, and/or FAT/SAT commissioning related to HVDC systems is preferred. Knowledge of the offshore wind market will also be seen favorably. This position will be opened for at least 3 days. Support and/or lead HVDC related projects, at various stages of development including: * Assist clients in HVDC/HVAC technology selection; * Conceptual, pre-FEED and FEED level design studies and/or drawings; * Converter station functional/technical specifications; * Liaise with converter station and HVDC cable OEMs on behalf of project owner/developers to fulfil OE tasks; * FAT/SAT witness testing and other supports on behalf of client * Work seamlessly with other project disciplines such as cable engineering, environmental/permitting, GIS, geotechnical & geophysics, civil, etc. * Contribute to Jacobs global and North American HVDC business development, bid preparation as well as initiatives to capture new HVDC pipeline. * Contribute to industry thought leadership and represent Jacobs at reputable international conferences and committee meetings such as IEEE and CIGRE.
