BluePearl Pet Hospital in Arden Hills, MN is seeking a knowledgeable and skilled Veterinary Technician to join their fast-paced Internal Medicine department. As an Internal Medicine Veterinary Technicians, you are a liaison between our internists and our clients regarding patient histories, care instructions, lab results, patient updates, and other topics as requested by the doctors. You will be involved with client contact through phone calls, email, and in person conversations. Additionally, you will be assisting with endoscopic and ultrasound procedures, filling prescriptions, taking x rays, and obtaining lab samples. Strong anesthesia and phlebotomy skills required. As an IM Veterinary Technician, you will... Set up constant rate infusions (CRI). Calculates all medical math including advanced and CRI (mcg/mg, %/mg, etc.). Induce, monitor and recover anesthesia Set up for ultrasound and radiology procedures. Set up and assist with endoscopic procedures (GI, nasal, urinary, airway). Clean and maintain equipment following procedure. Discharge IM patients from the hospital, including basic client education such as insulin injection, SQ fluid, and feeding tube demonstrations. The primary function of the Triage Technician t is to serve as a patient advocate through triage, communication, and education of the client, as well as be an extension of the Treatment Technician and DVM regarding client interaction. Additionally, the Veterinary Technician ER/ICU Triage is expected to promote professional growth through education and learning opportunities. SUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE AND FUNCTION The Pet Care Assistant works with the veterinary medical team to provide and prepare for the best medical care of pets, and to ensure this is provided in a happy, welcoming, friendly and efficient manner, influencing clients to return and refer their friends and families. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS · Prepare the treatment room for examination of pets and all necessary medical item and supplies (e.g. vaccinations, fecal loops, slides, etc.) for the veterinarian and/or veterinary technician. Serve as support to the Client Services Coordinator staff on an as-needed basis. · Hold or restrain pets during examination, treatment, or inoculation. · Prepare routine in-house laboratory tests (e.g. canine heartworm, feline leukemia, FIV, and canine parvovirus) as allowed by state rules and regulations. · Monitor the comfort of hospitalized patients. The primary function of the AERC ER DVM is to provide and recommend the highest standards of care to both existing patients of AERC and future referrals to AERC, while providing a positive and collaborative working relationship with specialists, referring clinics, and referring DVMs. This position reports to the Director of Emergency and Critical Care. The Veterinary Technician provides exceptional care of both patients and clients by service as an extension of the veterinarian. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following is a list of job responsibilities for the Veterinary Technician. Demonstrate high level math skills. Demonstrate comprehensive understanding of medications and diseases. Report any sentinel events to DVM and Charge Technician-ensure DVM reports sentinel event. Confirm treatments and charges are correct in EMR. Collect and run diagnostics as ordered by DVM. Perform quality controls and maintenance of lab and medical equipment, troubleshooting when necessary. Be responsible to work scheduled rotation or find replacement when needed Adhere to AERC Guidebook and AERC Core Values and AAHA requirements Adhere to compliance and procedure protocols Full-time team members are required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
