The Bilingual Social Worker/Counselor will provide services and assistance to improve the
social and psychological functioning of students and their families to maximize well-being
and academic functioning. The Social Worker/Counselor will assist parents and students
at the International Leadership Charter Middle School to achieve social and academic
goals.

Qualifications:
• Master's degree in Counseling and/or Social Work
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience
• Previous case management, assessment, counseling and crisis intervention
preferred.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
• Strong communication skills required and strong interpersonal skills to work with
school, students, parents and community-based agencies.
• Professional clinical experience with students and their families and a commitment
to working with parents and students as partners in education.
• Belief that all students can learn and become socially responsible
• Respect for all students and their families.
• Demonstrate an ability to multi-task effectively and prioritize strategically

CLASS TITLE: BEHAVIORAL SPECIALIST
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Principal, provide specialized support, assistance and related treatment, learning and therapeutic activities to identified special education students with behavioral issues; develop and implement positive behavior training programs, behavior modification activities, and related plans and interventions to meet the educational needs of students.

Develop and implement positive behavior training programs, behavior modification activities, and related plans and interventions to address maladaptive behaviors and assist in mainstreaming identified students; observe students and conduct behavioral and functional analysis assessments to identify student needs and issues.
Establish and maintain behavioral goals and objectives for individual students; monitor, assess and adjust behavior modification activities, behavior training programs and related plans and strategies in response to student needs, behavioral issues and progress.
Provide specialized support in the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals, objectives and related behavior planning; monitor and assess IEP goals; attend and participate in IEP and various other staff meetings.
Provide case management services in support of assigned students, classrooms and behavior support activities; coordinate behavior support services and related communications and information between IEP team, staff, teachers and others; keep others current regarding student progress.
Observe and analyze student behavior in the classroom; assess classroom structure, curriculum requirements and existing behavior management system; modify program or teaching environment to meet student needs and enhance student learning.
Provide consultation, training and technical assistance to students, staff, faculty and families concerning behavior management and related plans, strategies and activities; respond to inquiries and provide information concerning related principles, practices, techniques, policies and procedures.
Monitor student behavior in the home through telephone communications; confer and collaborate with other staff and family members in the implementation of behavior plans and strategies at school and in the home to enhance program and student progress.
Provide technical support to mainstream teachers with monitoring, implementing and supervising special education students in mainstream classroom environments.
Communicate with students, staff, faculty, families and outside agencies to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns.
Operate various office and classroom equipment including a copier, computer and assigned software; drive a vehicle to conduct work.
Prepare detailed and concise notes regarding student progress; compile information and data and prepare and maintain various records, reports and files related to students, behavior plans, IEP's, observations, training programs and assigned activities.
Attend mandatory trainings as required for this position.

The Opportunity
Under general supervision, the BehavioralInterventionist (BI) assists members of the Special Education Team in the supervision and instruction of special education students in a variety of educational settings. The BI implements intensive behavior intervention programs for the purpose of supporting students in achieving their academic, social, emotional, and behavior goals. As part of a student's Special Education team, assist in implementing appropriate individualized instructional and behavioral plans and programs for assigned student(s), making adaptations as necessary under the direction of the Behavior Intervention Developer (BID), School Psychologist or School Counselor
Under direct and/or indirect supervision, provide individual and group instruction and/or intensive behavior intervention in the classroom
Perform specialized instructional assistance in areas of related service including, but not limited to, adaptive physical education, speech and language, and/or occupational therapy
Assist in a student's developmental program, which may include language, gross and fine motor, cognitive, social, emotional, and self-help skills
Assist in identifying students needing remedial instruction in movement skills and provide activities for improvement of skills in body image, spatial awareness balance, locomotion, strength and agility
Assist students with personal hygiene including, but not limited to, eating, washing, oral care, toileting and diaper changing and/or develop self-help grooming skills as appropriate
Performs specialized physical health care services such as suctioning, gastronomy tube feeding, catheterization, oxygen administration and care of related equipment, and administers medication as directed
Learn and safely implement approved techniques, such as CPI for restraining students
Assist students physically as required, implementing non-violent crisis interventions
Record data daily on a variety of aspects of students' progress and behavior including, but not limited to, collecting data and anecdotal student progress notes
Assist teachers in preparing a variety of learning materials and perform routine clerical tasks related to the classroom such as filing and recording test scores, grades and other data in student files
Assist in administering, proctoring and scoring tests and charting student progress
Set up work areas and prepare materials for instructional use
Operate or learn to operate a variety of technology such as computers, audiovisual equipment, office equipment, electronic teaching machines, and assistive technology
Supervise students before and after school, at lunch, on the playground, and on field trips
Assist teachers with parent contacts
Attend back-to-school nights and other school activities as requested and/or required
Attend and participate in all relevant training sessions, meetings and professional growth activities as requested and/or required
Respect confidential nature of pupil records and school reports
Show patience, respect and compassion in working with students
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree preferred
Associates degree or a minimum of at least 48 semester units (60 quarter units) required
One (1) year of paid or volunteer experience working with students with disabilities, including students with autism

Position DescriptionThe Multilingual Learner Interventionist - Multilingual Learner Support works closely with teachers, school leaders, and the regional Multilingual Learner (ML) team to ensure that students identified as multilingual learners make measurable progress in their English language development and core academic skills. Instruction & Student Support
Deliver small group and one-on-one interventions targeting English language development, aligned to students' Individualized ML needs.
Provide both designated and integrated ELD instruction, using Rocketship-adopted curricula and strategies.
Support a language-rich environment through vocabulary development, structured conversations, and opportunities for student presentations.
Push-in, pull-out, or co-teach with general educators to ensure ML strategies are embedded in daily instruction.
Assessment & Data Use
Administer and/or support administration of ELPAC assessments for multilingual learners.
Conduct frequent progress monitoring in speaking, listening, reading, and writing; share results with teachers and families.
Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to analyze ELPAC and other assessment data; co-develop action plans that guide instruction and intervention.
Collaboration & Family Engagement
Partner with classroom teachers during planning cycles to ensure integrated ELD strategies are reflected in lesson plans.
Report student progress to families on a 6-8 week basis and partner with school teams to ensure multilingual learner voices are represented at community events and school meetings.
Participate in professional development and actively contribute to grade-level and school-wide collaboration.

Note: This is a full-time, 10-month position with unpaid school breaks. There is, however, potential for Extended School Year (ESY) and summer school scheduling.
What You Have
* High school diploma or equivalent required.
* 1-2 years' experience working with children with moderate to severe disabilities in a special needs educational setting, including experience with toileting.
* Ability to collaborate and receive feedback, mentoring, and direction from peers and supervisors.
* Demonstrated experience in maintaining a professional and clinical perspective, with the ability to not internalize or personalize (e.g., emotionally) regarding certain student behaviors or mannerisms that occur.
* Demonstrated experience using physical ability and dexterity to safely and effectively use crisis management interventions (including the use of therapeutic holds) of all involved (e.g., self, student, other employees).
What You'll Be Doing
* Working with students with moderate to severe special needs in a Functional Academic Communication Social Skills (FACSS) classroom.
* Using applied behavior analysis (ABA) therapy to provide direct instructional support to individuals and/or groups of students.
* Providing structured support in social-emotional, adaptive behavior, social-skill, and life skill development, including toileting.
* Collecting data regarding student(s) progress towards their goals/objectives as directed by the teaching and clinical team.
* Reinforcing academic behaviors taught by certified staff and providing the student with opportunities to practice.
* Assisting students in community, recreational, school, and leisure activities under the direction of certified staff.
* Implementing district-approved techniques for verbal de-escalation and safe physical restraint. Training in specific therapeutic techniques provided by Beach Cities Learning.
* Performing other related duties as assigned and required by the building administration and certified staff.
Physical requirements vary and are based on specific student assignments. You may be asked to engage in any of the following: lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, stoop, reach, stand, kneel, squat, sit, walk, lift, pull, and grasp for extended periods of time.
