* The Landscaper I provide landscape maintenance support to a variety of industrial, commercial, and public properties. This position performs basic tasks with supervision and supports the safe operation of commercial grade landscaping equipment as well as the upkeep of plant material and other landscaping elements.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Cut turf using various sized power mowers, trimming, and edging using a gas-powered edger/trimmer, and operating a gas-powered blower
Prune shrubs and low trees as needed to improve the shape or growth habit or to remove damaged branches
Plant and maintain flower beds
Operate the edger and line trimmer along sidewalks, flower beds, trees, buildings, fences, and other objects
Pick up trash and blow leaves and other organic debris on to the turf before mowing.
Mulch the leaves and organic matter when mowing.
Perform weeding by hand or using a garden hoe or hula hoe
Perform basic, preventative maintenance to extend the life of equipment
Properly remove trash, dead plants, and suckers from landscape
Maintain a polite, friendly, responsive demeanor with guests and customers
Report unsafe conditions to Crew Leader or Production Manager as appropriate
Education and Experience:
At least 18 years old,
Enthusiastic and dependable
Ability to safely work with equipment like power saws and cutters
Certified on level 1 equipment (backpack blower, stick edger, string trimmer, walk-behind mower)
Familiar with basic horticultural maintenance operations/practices
Physical Demands/Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. (mulch, fertilizer, etc.)
Ability to load/unload burlaps with plant cuttings onto trailer (up to 50 lbs.)
Ability to bend, stoop and twist continuously throughout the day
Work Environment:
Work in/or about situations near direct automotive traffic
Work near or about natural bodies of water
Ability to work in extreme conditions - temperatures may exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit
Ability to work in direct sunlight for extended periods of time
Work outdoors in moderate to extreme heat in dry/humid near automotive traffic, natural bodies of water, fumes, dust, mechanical/electrical hazards and direct sunlight.
Requires protective clothing and personal devices: Eye protection, safety vest, gloves, hard hat, ear plugs, long sleeved shirts, and work boots.
Compensation Pay Range:

JOB SUMMARY
The primary function of this position is to apply Plant Health Care (PHC) treatments according to label requirements, work order specifications and management directives. The T-1 can complete treatments according to professional standards of quality and safety as well as work in an efficient, organized manner. The proficient T-1 is self-directed and organized. They have an introductory understanding of application procedures that improve the health and appearance of plants and trees on client properties. PHC techs may be required to work off hours, including nights and early mornings. A T-1 works as a contributing member of the tree care team. Additionally, the T-1 can work autonomously, as needed.

PHC Tech 1 (T-1) is an entry level position. Team members at the T-1 level have introductory applicator skills and demonstrate proficiency in the following areas related to PHC

The Assistant Field Manager is responsible for assisting the Field Manager in managing labor and material in the field to complete assigned contract maintenance and snow removal projects. In addition, assistant field managers must develop the people that report to them. Success in this position is indicated by jobs in which contracts are renewed, jobs completed in the budgeted hours, and low negative turnover of assistants and crewmembers. This position must cooperate with other landscape management field managers and enhancement field managers to see that the overall goals of the branch are met.
Responsibilities
Develop a clear understanding of the philosophies by which the company operates, the short-and long-term goals of the branch, and the financial position of the branch.
Get to know their people in an effort to help them develop within the company.
Be an active part of our training process by attending or conducting certification training sessions on a regular basis.
Plan, schedule and supervise daily production activities on assigned contracts.
Develop a clear understanding of the hourly and cost budgets for each of your jobs. Monitor by reviewing job hours, reports, and job costs regularly and acting as needed. Communicate budget hours to crewmembers.
Monitor quality of work and be proactive in bringing issues to the customer's attention by inspecting the job at the end of each day.
Maintain assigned vehicle and equipment in good working order.
Qualifications
Demonstrated skill and ability to manage others at other levels.
Demonstrated skill and ability to work with service customers.
At least one year of experience doing contract maintenance work in a commercial setting.
Two or four-year horticultural or related degrees and two years of industry experience. Additional industry experience or industry certifications can substitute for a non-related degree, a two-year degree, or no degree.
Ability to identify and diagnose insect and disease problems and schedule appropriate treatment.
Working knowledge of vehicles and equipment used in contract maintenance and snow removal.
Valid driver's license with a clean record over the last three years.

Irrigation

May direct/lead the work of 1-2 laborers and instructs other technicians on work to be performed
Reads and understands irrigation plans
Creates as-built drawings, site activity maps, irrigation diagnostics, and work orders
Repairs all types of pipe including copper and asbestos cement, installs and repairs various sprinkler systems and irrigation valves, and performs main line repairs up to and including 3" pipes
Positions sprinklers appropriately and correctly in relation to grade, curbs, walls, and windows
Disassembles, trouble shoots, and repairs solenoid operated irrigation control valves;
Demonstrates the ability to install a new replacement valve
Demonstrates ability to make proper flow control adjustments
Turns controllers on and off and manually operates a single station from the controller
Checks irrigation programs on the controller and can operate a valve electronically by remote and programs irrigation controllers
Installs remote harnesses

Physical Demands/Requirements:
* Operation of a computer and other office equipment/system, such as a laptop, cell phone, and sales and operational programs/tools
* Position is a combination of mobile and sedentary work; must be able to remain in a stationary position for long periods of time
* Customarily and regularly spends more than half of the time working away from BrightView's places of business, walking job sites, selling and obtaining orders or contracts for BrightView's services
* Ability to travel by car, train, and plane
* Position needs to be able to traverse uneven grounds and walk on jobsites with clients and the branch team for periods of time up to 4 hours
Work Environment:
* Works both indoors and outdoors; attends branch stretch and flex 3-4 days per week
