Keweenaw National Historical Park (KNHP) is a partnership park, intertwining federal, state, and local ownerships. A Fish & Feathers Intern at KNHP, will participate in the expansion of the Casting to Connect Our Copper Country Communities program to include other partner sites, including Heritage Sites. KNHP has 23 Heritage Sites within Keweenaw, Houghton, Ontonagon, and Baraga counties. They will work closely with park and partner to do select locations for fishing camps around the Keweenaw and do historical research and create programing that connects the history of each location to participants of the fishing clinics. Each location will provide a unique story to add to the understanding of the richness of KNHP. Calumet Keweenaw Sportsmen's Club (CKSC) will provide fishing opportunities/programming and the intern will provide historical and cultural programming. In coordination with the CKSC, job duties will include corresponding with representatives from partner sites to develop a schedule of Junior Ranger Angler activities for 2024, assist in youth registration, research historical and cultural connections to selected sites and assist in the development of programming for the events, participate in implementing the programming, document progress (for example photographs, video), and create social media posts.
