Capable of working responsibly with confidential information. Must be able to work independently. Must maintain current and active first aid and CPR certification; Be physically able to perform the job tasks required and assurance that communicable diseases of major public health concern are not present, as verified by a physician; Have interest in and empathy for, people who are ill, elderly, or disabled; Be emotionally mature and able to respond to participants and situations in a responsible manner; Have good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively, assertively, and cooperatively with a variety of people; Must not have been convicted of a crime substantially related to the dependent population or any violent crime; Must be able to recognize the signs of abuse, neglect and/or exploitation and the procedures to follow as required in the Vulnerable Adult Act; and Must have knowledge of how to prevent burns, falls, fires; and emergency numbers to contact emergency personnel if required.
