    Job Summary: The Staff Nurse is responsible for implementing the philosophies, objectives, standards of care, and policies and procedures of the Nursing Division under the direction of the Nurse Manager. The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care. PeriOperative Services is a fast paced, critical care environment, encompassing the PreAnesthesia Testing, PreOp, and Post Anesthesia Care units. Staff nurses must be flexible, hardworking team players. ACLS and PALS are required within six months of employment for PreOp and PACU (offered on site). In these areas patients are prepped and recovered from surgery, working closely with the OR, anesthesiologists and CRNAs. Within the unit reside a 13-bed admission area and a 19 bed observation area and a 16 bed unit that is utilized for the influx of patients and medical overflow. The goal of the Clinical Decision Unit is to provide safe, quality care for patients with various disease processes through the admission process and observation services. Minimum Requirements: Graduate from an NCBON approved School of Nursing and/or graduate from an approved School of Nursing. Current RN license with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing or Compact License recognized by the North Carolina State Board of Nursing. Knowledge of current trends and techniques in nursing. Possess the ability to relate effectively to patients, their families, physicians, staff, and all others using proper channels of communication. Recognize the importance of being a professional role model for others. Able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his/her unit(s). Maintain current AHA BLS certification. Deliver outstanding customer service that upholds CarolinaEast's Standards of Excellence.
