Surgical Care Unit (SCU) is a 26 bed medical/surgical unit that is staffed with a combination of LPNs, RNs and PCTs who provided safe and compassionate care for a variety of surgical patients. These patients consist of urology patients such as cystoscopies, prostatectomies, percutaneous nephrolithotomy (PNL), nephrectomies, etc. General surgical patients consisting of hernia repair; incision and drainage or debridement of abscesses or infections in various locations; colon resections, ostomy placements and drain placements; laparoscopic procedures like cholecystectomies and appendectomies. Vascular patients, which deal mostly with amputations of limbs and revascularization of limbs such as bypasses. Wound vacuums and a ton of wound care.
