Job Summary: The Vascular Technologist is expected to interact with patients and their families in a caring, considerate manner and provide care with the highest regard for the patient's mental, spiritual, and physical well-being. The Vascular Technologist is responsible for the performance of vascular studies to include: Carotid duplex, Aorta duplex, Vein mapping, Venous duplex, Arterial physiology studies, Arterial duplex, Renal/SMA arterial duplex, Arterial By-Pass grafts, Dialysis Access grafts, pre-op dialysis access evaluations, venous insufficiency exams, and ABI's. The Vascular Technologist is required to deliver services to infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients in all areas of the hospital, within the laboratory setting, and in the physician office setting. The individual makes diagnostic testing available 24 hours per day/seven days per week. On-Call responsibilities are an important aspect of this position. The Vascular Technologist is expected to perform the duties and responsibilities with indirect, minimal supervision and must make many independent decisions. Minimum Requirements: Registered as a Vascular Technologist required within one year of employment. Registered Vascular Technologist preferred. Prior experience performing peripheral vascular testing required. College degree in Health Science or Allied Health preferred. Pay Range $34.90 - $52.35 Major Responsibilities * Demonstrates proficiency by performing routine and emergency echocardiograms, including but not limited to 2-dimensional, 3- dimensional, Doppler, Transesophageal, and Stress Echocardiogram, as requested by physician and in accordance with established protocols. * Records quality information while performing echocardiographic imaging and following procedural guidelines and protocols * Explains procedures and possible side effects to the patient or family members. * Provides echocardiography service at all necessary locations, portables, working variable shifts, weekends, and providing emergent call coverage as scheduled. * Operates equipment necessary to perform all required procedures and to obtain optimal diagnostic recording; utilize ancillary devices such as selected transducers, digital networking system, and off-line analysis systems. * Maintain equipment in working order, making minor adjustments and repairs. * Performs routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, and report any equipment malfunction to echo lab manager. * Analyze patient's medical record to obtain history of symptoms and necessary information for performance of diagnostic procedures. * Prepares preliminary reports for review and interpretation by Cardiologist. * Participate in quality improvement activities; evaluate procedure results for technical quality and accuracy; maintain appropriate logs, files, and records. * Review department performance in relation to established goals, implementing changes to affect outcomes. * Maintain confidentiality of patients, employees and corporation-related activities. * Instruct students, fellows, nurses, or health personnel as requested. * Communicates technical and patient care related information according to established processes and timelines. * Attends Echo Lab Meetings, participates in Echo related conferences through attendance, ensuring continuing education and professional growth. * Works weekends, holidays and on-call, as needed * Cultivates a collaborative and cooperative work environment within department. * Level 4 Cardiac Sonographers have the additional following expectations: * Participates in dedicated research protocols, as needed. * Performs portable and lab echocardiograms in an inpatient setting on weekends, holidays, and on an on-call basis (Level 4 cardiac sonographers must work in inpatient setting to qualify.) * Acts as a resource in the absence of the leadership team to provide coverage. * Actively participates in educational opportunities both internally and externally. * Is a role model for other cardiac sonographers. * Has the ability to troubleshoot Cardiac Ultrasound equipment issues and follows through until corrected. * Troubleshoots issues with EMR and Cardiac PAC system. Job Summary * Coordinate, provide, and assist in providing comprehensive quality patient care to the Cardiothoracic and Vascular surgery sub-specialties in collaboration with a supervising physician. * Provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, education, referral, and consultation under direction of the supervising physician. * Maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the age, developmental stages, and special needs of the patients served. * Shifts: Nocturnist - 12-hour shifts, proposed 7 days on/7 days off, (can be flexible), position is for night shift, 84 hours per pay period * Weekends, Holidays required. No Call. Travel to other sites may be required. Essential Functions * Providing care for Sanger patients to include Cardiac, Thoracic, and Vascular Surgery. * Manage acute problems that arise including changes in patient status, nursing calls, patient calls, codes and RRTs for Sanger patients we are actively following. * Obtain detailed history and physicals on all consultations and admissions that occur during shift. * Order and interpret a variety of laboratory and diagnostic testing when indicated for appropriate assessment and treatment. * Manages Triage phone line for coordination of patient care, transfers, and communication with other consulting services. * Participates in education and training of APP students, APP Fellows, and on-boarding of new APP hires (when appropriate) * Attends and participates in Atrium Health and Sanger required meetings, education, development sessions. * Candidate must be able to work independently and efficiently with strong decision-making skills.
