    Job Title: Senior Accountant Department: Finance/ Accounting Reports To: Chief Financial Officer Prepared By: Jim Chatman The Senior Accountant will exercise independent judgment and must demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills. Performs Financial and Accounting duties in an accurate and timely manner for Goshen Medical Center, Inc. to include assisting the Chief Financial Officer, and working with other Finance department staff members and other key personnel in the organization. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: * Ensures accounting duties are performed in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and with company accounting policies. * Oversees month-end financial closing process including financial statement preparation and distribution. Compile month-end reports and enter into appropriate worksheets. * Properly performs and utilizes MIP financial modules and any applicable information systems as required. * Assists with the Cash Receipts, Cash Disbursements, and Accounts Payable processes. * Prepares journal entries. * Analyzes and reconciles data posted in General Ledger for accuracy and integrity. * Complete appropriate financial sections of the UDS report. * Analyzes budget variances and provides feedback to facilities on strategies to improve performance. * Prepares Balance Sheet Account reconciliations in a timely manner. * Provides support and coordinates with other departments to ensure timely resolution of issues. * Assists in the annual budget preparation and reporting. * Assists with Grant Accounting and Reporting. Ensures accurate grant accounting according to the terms and conditions and documentation requirements of the grant. * Prepares quarterly DFAFS grant reports and prepares appropriate drawdowns of grant funds based upon accurate and timely accounting records. Documents in PMS system as required. * Performs ad-hoc and other analysis as requested by Chief Financial Officer. * Responsible for the timely completion and review of government mandates filings * Assist with the coordination and preparation of data for the annual Single Audit, retirement plan audits, and Form 5500 filings. * Gather information for the preparation of the annual Medicare/caid cost reports, IRS Form 990 and UDS. * Maintain Fixed Assets system and record monthly journal entries and reconciliations. * Oversee Equipment Leases and maintain an accurate inventory. * Performs bank account reconciliations for cash accounts on monthly basis. * Assists CFO with preparation of Financial/Accounting policies and procedures for effective internal controls. * Performs special projects, analysis and other duties as assigned. Laws governing access to public and private records. 11. Follow written and/or oral instructions. 12. Clean facility. 13. Communicate information and ideas clearly, and concisely, in writing; read and understand information presented in writing. 14. Use the telephone and email in a professional and courteous manner. 15. Review and/or edit documents for accuracy and completeness. 16. Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization. 17. Good knowledge of PC operations and software (Word processing, database and spreadsheet) are required. 18. Learn and retain information. 19. Look for ways to improve and promote quality. 20. Respond to management direction. 21. Develops workable implementation plans; communicate changes effectively. Education: Graduate from an accredited college or university with a B.S. degree in accounting or finance. Experience: Preferred three (3) year experience as a finance manager or accountant, in a health care institution and/or non-profit organization. Equipment Operated : Standard office equipment which may include computerized accounting and health information management system, web-based applications, fax, copiers, phone and adding machine along with facility cleaning equipment. Mental/Physical Requirements: Must be flexible and able to travel. Must be able to lift 30 pounds of supplies. Must be able to sit for long periods of time at desk. Occasional stress from dealing with many staff and patients. Hours: Must be able to work a flexible work schedule including week days, some weekends, evenings, and holidays if needed.
