**Job Summary and Responsibilities** **Up to 20,000 sign-on bonus** **and** **$10,000 educational assistance available to external candidates!** We currently have an amazing opportunity in our Cardiac Cath/Interventional Radiology Lab for a **Cath/IR Invasive Technologist** . Working in our fast moving Cath/IR Lab certainly offers a variety of procedural exposure to procedure scrubs/radiology technologists who choose this clinical area by professional expansion. We are looking for Rad techs and/or RCIS techs who can wear many hats and think quickly on their feet while providing the best patient care! The Cath/IR lab invasive tech assists the team in the performing of the catheterizations and angiograms. They will monitor and examine the patient prior, during and after the procedure, as well as assist the physician and assist the medical team in whatever they may need during the procedure, such as supply knowledge and management with the department. **Responsibilities** + Float between Omaha Metro Cardiac Cath Labs, as needed (float differential applied to baserate) + Effectively communicates and works cooperatively with team members, patients, families, guests,and providers.Assists with pre-procedure education and preparing patients for the procedure. ● Preparing patients for procedures: Includes checking and verifying vital signs, meds, NPO status,lab results, and medical history + Monitoring patient patterns and vital signs during the procedure + Collaborates with other staff to assure patients have a thorough understanding of procedure andis able to answer questions as needed. Procedure Responsibilities: + Ensures the patient is positioned properly for the procedure. + Ensures EKG electrodes are properly placed and cardiac electrodes correctly applied.● Ensures skin is prepped and sterilized appropriately prior to procedural draping.● Performs monitoring function throughout procedures. + Documents clinical information in patient records. Operates hemodynamic monitoring equipment. ■ Recognize and report changes in the cardiac rhythm. 1 ■ Recognize and report changes in hemodynamic waveforms. ■ Accurately documents the flow of events from start thru completion of procedure. Scrubs and assists physicians during procedures. + Performs surgical scrubbing duties and assists physicians during minimally invasive,image-guided procedures, preparing equipment and maintaining a sterile field + Uses fine motor skills to assist physician with the placement/deployment/use of invasivecatheters, wires, balloons, stents, Intra-aortic balloon counter-pulsation equipment (IABP),implantable cardiac devices, and electrophysiology catheters + X-ray equipment management and manipulation Quality Responsibilities: + Daily scheduling and chart preparation for procedures + Performs daily maintenance + Quality assurance testing + Equipment cleaning + Supply re-stocking **Job Requirements** Education/Experience: Graduation from an accredited school: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) + Previous general radiologic technologist experience for one year. + Previous Cardiac Cath Lab and/or Interventional Radiology Lab experience License/Certification: Current licensure as a ARRT (NE)/ RCIS Basic Life Support - CPR (BLS-CPR) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 6 - months **Where You'll Work** CHI Health Immanuel, located in North Omaha just off of I-680 on 72nd Street, offers a full-service hospital, cancer center, rehabilitation center, specialty spine hospital and more. Provides a clear explanation of the procedure including; duration, process, and what to expect following completion. Verifies informed consent for and assists physicians with interventional procedures; needle localization, aspiration, biopsies, and other invasive procedures. Practices aseptic and sterile techniques as necessary and observes universal precautions. Provides patient education as appropriate. + Selection of the proper equipment, setting correct technical factors, procedure protocols and gathering proper supplies prior to performance of the procedure. Recognizes all radiation safety standards including "Image Gently" and "Image Wisely" and MR safety standards. Understands and follows all rules around radiation protection including wearing of lead protection when utilizing fluoroscopy or when there is a possibility of exposure i.e. CT room, performing portable exams etc. + Obtains clear and complete history from the patient and or patient record and records that data into patient record to assist in image interpretation and future patient encounters. + Is able to perform quality assessment of images obtained and is able to evaluate equipment issues and reports assessment to supervisor, manager or director. + Ensures all equipment is in working order at the beginning of the day and prior to starting of a procedure. Performs any performance and quality tests on equipment as required including ACR quality requirements. Checks all supplies for outdated prior to use and reports any shortages, variations or failures of equipment to supervisor, manager or director for follow-up. Uses CHI incident reporting system to report any patient injuries or concerns, equipment or supply failures or malfunctions, medication reaction or errors, and visitor or personal injury or exposure. + Is responsible to participate in and have a good understanding of all department, campus and system quality improvement projects, the ACR accreditation process, Radiation Safety, ALARA, MQSA, and State Regulations as they apply to staff's license or certifications. Be familiar with the requirements of CMS and Joint Commission and be able to speak to all department processes around quality and environment of care. **Job Requirements** **Education** + Graduate of a Radiologic Technology Program **Licenses & Certifications** + BLS from the American Heart Association + ARRT Board Certified in Radiology + Must hold a valid Medical Radiography or General Radiology Technologist Permit to Practice license in Nebraska or Iowa depending on work state **Knowledge, Skills & Abilities** + Understands methods and is capable of performing venipuncture as required for position + Demonstrated ability to set and maintain multiple priorities in an environment with shifting priorities + Must be self-motivated, and able to take ownership of projects/assignments + Must be a team player with excellent follow-up and customer service skills + Strong interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills + Interpersonal skills in dealing with guests and team members **PREFERRED Qualifications** + Six to nine months experience in radiology preferred + If Cardiac Catheter lab included in duties ACLS required + Certification in IR or RCIS, preferred + ARRT Board Certified in CT within one year of hire, if appropriate + ARRT Board Certified in Mammography within one year of hire, if appropriate \#interventional Imaging **Where You'll Work** CHI Health Lakeside is West Omaha's only full-service hospital.
