CentraState Medical Center is currently seeking a Nuclear Medicine Technologist to join its Nuclear Medicine team. This role involves performing both routine and emergency nuclear medicine procedures. The technologist will also mentor and train students in a collaborative learning environment, contributing to the development of future healthcare professionals.
Responsibilities
Performs Nuclear Medicine procedures including IV injections of radiopharmaceuticals, use of spect camera and computers and processing of computer generated images.
Keeps accurate records of receipt, disposal and administration of radioactive material.
Performs required Quality Control procedures on camera and equipment and document results.
Reviews images, documents completion of case, assembles images, requisition and file jacket for delivery to Radiologist.

Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Formal nuclear medicine technology training at an AMA approved school.
Previous experience preferred.
NJ state License required.
ARRT Certification required.
CNMT Certification required.
CPR Certification required.

9-week Program -- June 1st - July 31st, 2026
(Participants must be able to commit to the entire 9 week program)
Under the guidance of nurse preceptors - offers nursing students the opportunity to work side by side with an experienced nursing professional.
You will learn valuable skills and gain the confidence you need to be successful in nursing.
Will attend classroom orientation along with a weekly lecture series designed especially for Nurse Externs.
Nurse Externs will be assigned to a specific unit for the entire enternship.
Opportunity for continued employment after the externship as a per diem Patient Care Technician.
Hourly Rate - $18.00 hr.
Although we do our best to accommodate unit preferences, placement will be ultimately determined by unit availability. Externs should be open to exploring the unit they are placed even if it was not their first preference.

This role provides skilled technical nursing assistance by performing assigned duties and services to support quality patient care. Responsibilities are carried out in accordance with ANA standards, Joint Commission guidelines, and CSHS policies and procedures, following evidence-based nursingpractices. A patient-focused care model is utilized through an interdisciplinary approach. All nurse externs will attend System Orientation and Nursing Orientation and will be assigned a Preceptor to guide the orientation process. The duration of orientation will be tailored to the individual's experience level and overseen by the Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, or Nurse Educator.
Responsibilities
Provides skilled technical nursing assistance by performing assigned duties and services required to deliver quality patient care.
Provides considerate respectful care focused upon the patient's individual need to ensure patient satisfaction.
Affirms the patient's right to make decisions regarding his/her medical care, including the decision to discontinue treatment, to the extent permitted by law.
Demonstrates the ability to obtain information and interpret information in terms of the needs of the age of the patients cared for. Demonstrates an understanding of the range of care needed based on the age of the patients cared for.
Demonstrates knowledge of growth, development and /or adult health throughout the life span as appropriate to the job performed. Successfully completes life-span education as appropriate.
Follows Standard Precautions.
Correctly performs all scheduled and assigned tasks while continually observing patient needs.
Accurately checks exterior of code cart each shift.
Provides partial and/or complete direct personal hygienic care to patients.
Follows CentraState policy regarding restraint application, documentation and observation.
Performs pain (5th vital sign) screening as indicated, notifies the RN immediately of patient's report of pain or discomfort, and provides appropriate non-pharmacologic interventions as directed by RN.
Assists with data collection and reports abnormal findings to the RN.
Documents clinical findings under direction of RN.
Participates in the development of the plan of care and discharge planning needs for patients, under the direction of the RN.
Strong professional, organizational, and interpersonal skills to effectively relate with all members of the healthcare team
Qualifications
Candidates must have completed their junior year in an accredited BSN or ASN program.
BLS certification required prior to start.
Shifts - must be flexible and able to work days, nights, and weekends
Three 12-hour shifts working side by side with nurse preceptors.
Vacation time - vacation is not permitted during this 9 week period.

A Nuclear Medicine Technologist II ability to operate a PETCT and SPECT/CT unit under the guidelines of the State of NJ.
Maintains additional licensure to perform CT portion of the Nuclear Medicine exam with either an X-ray license of a NJDEP Limited or a Fusion Imaging CT Technology license.
