Purpose: The AssistantTeacherassists with providing an environment that will help to promote learning through all developmental areas: physical, social-emotional, and intellectual. They work with Teachers to promote parent involvement.
Responsibilities:
Assist with providing a learning environment for children that will help to promote learning through all developmental areas (physical, social-emotional and intellectual)
Participate in completing a developmental screening on each child, review health records, complete height and weight growth charts, and use observation techniques to observe and record children's behavior, language, and overall development progress
Assist in providing a “child-centered environment” which includes individualized activities, small and large group activities
Assist in developing weekly lesson plans
Assist in design and lay out daily schedules based upon the monthly program focus designated by the Educational Coordinator
Assist in administering the ESI screening to determine the growth and development of each participate
Assist in reviewing and evaluating children's medical records and consult with the social service staff to develop individual service plans
Assist in observing children's behavior in the classroom and prepare a complete humanistic assessment of each child
Chart and maintain records of individual child growth patterns
Conduct home visits to counsel parents regarding their children's development and behavior, record daily meal attendance

Qualifications:
Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or BA Degree in any area with thirty (30) credit hours in Early Childhood Education.

Position Purpose

Essential Performance Responsibilities

Position Purpose
Under the general supervision of the School Principal, to facilitate student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills through implementing district approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of individual students and by creating a flexible, safe and optimal learning environment; and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.
Essential Performance Responsibilities
Develops and administers school middle school curriculum consistent with school district goals and objectives.
Promotes a classroom environment that is faith-filled, safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction, and student learning.
Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction
Teaches all required subject matters as assigned to the grade level. Depending on abilities, subjects may include: social studies, science, and/or religion to pupils in a classroom, utilizing course of study adopted by the school/diocese, and other appropriate learning activities.
Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual small group instruction as needed.
Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and other subject matters specified in applicable laws, as well as administrative regulations and procedures of the Catholic Diocese of Peoria.

POSITION OBJECTIVE
Determine the needs and provide for the development of children birth through three. Work to create a safe environment for children and act as a role model for teaching staff. Coordinate portfolio assessments of all children in a timely manner and conduct classroom observations monthly
Ensure that parent-teacher conferences are conducted twice a year and assistteachers in both preparation and conducting these conferences, as needed.

Qualifications:

Provide a safe and high quality experience to the participants. Lead youth in educational, recreational, or social activities according to the program goals. Maintain positive relationships with many diverse people, including staff, youth, volunteers and program site administration, demonstrating strong public relations.
Ensure YMCA policies and guidelines are followed at all times.
Provide safe conditions for the children and refrain from engaging in activities that may be hazardous or negligent to the well-being of the children.
Supervise youth at all times and be responsible for assertive discipline procedures.
Responsible for all aspects of customer service - including greeting parents, handling questions and staying informed on program activities.
Ensure the individual needs of youth are met for proper coordination of the program.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
