Brunswick Library is looking for a friendly, energetic individual to join our Children's Department. Successful candidate will provide direct library services to children & families, supporting early literacy and the love of reading. Duties will include reference and reader's advisory, planning and presenting children's events from birth to grade 5, and assisting in collection maintenance. Candidate will present weekly storytimes, support community partnerships, and provide outreach to local elementary schools, daycare centers, and preschools.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree and one year experience working with children preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered. Possess excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills, ability to plan and present events, knowledge of children's books, basic computer skills, and ability to work both independently and as a team member. The candidate must be able to work with patrons and staff in a professional, courteous manner both in person and on the phone.
WAGE: $17.87 per hour; additional $2.00 per hour Sunday premium; Grade 4
BENEFITS: Vacation, sick leave, personal days, holidays, and other benefits based on Union contract; Public Employees Retirement System
HOURS : Part-time; 20 hours per week; 4-5-hour shifts, at least 1 evening, and occasional Saturdays and Sundays (schedule subject to change based on needs of the library)
