JOB TITLE: Public Works Heavy Equipment Operator DEPARTMENT/DIVISION: Public Works/Various REPORTS TO: Varies SUMMARY: Responsible for performing duties that are primarily related to operating heavy equipment. Sets up traffic warning devices and barricades and directs traffic around work sites. Checks and inspects barricades daily for proper placement and visibility. Completes a variety of logs, documents, and/or simple reports regarding quantity of materials handled, equipment operations, and/or other related information. Prepares and cleans up work sites. Transports equipment and/or materials to designated job site(s). Participates in winter weather operational activities. Responds to emergency operation and on-call situations. Employee is responsible for the repair and/or maintenance of city streets with the use of equipment such as a backhoe, front end loader, excavator, dump truck, street paving machine, motor grader, street sweeper and other similar department equipment; and assists department personnel with drain ditch cleaning/maintenance and the completion of a wide range of department projects. Employee is required to perform all similar or related duties.
