The Product Manager works with business owners and creates, maintains and communicates the Product Vision and Product Roadmap to develop technical changes to a moderately large / complex business solution. Alternatively, their accountability may be for several smaller, less complex solutions. The Product Manager owns the outcomes at the Agile Release Train (ART) level, breaking down the roadmap into a program increment roadmap that is clearly communicated to product owners and developers on release trains. The Product Manager also ensures alignment at all times with the product vision. This is a key role and works collaboratively with business owners, solution architects, product owners and delivery teams.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
This role will focused on supporting the needs for delegated underwriting programs as well as other Commercial underwriting initiatives. We are searching for candidates with the following attributes and experience:
Minimum of three years' experience working within the Commercial insurance industry coupled with eight years' experience as a Product Manager, Senior Product Owner, Product Owner, or similar role.
Experience leading large Underwriting-related initiatives, supporting multiple business units and stakeholders.
Knowledge of policy administration systems, policy lifecycle processes, and product definition.
Experience in driving data needs across multiple internal and external business stakeholders to support downstream processes, including policy coding requirements, claims handling, state reporting, actuarial analysis and management reporting.
Ability to partner closely with agile team members on technical requirements, including data mapping and validations, and understanding impacts to integrating systems.
Multiline P&C experience preferred.
This hybrid role works from the office in Chicago, IL or the potential for remote work with travel to/from Chicago as needed.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines:
Owns, and has final authority for, the business strategy, content and priorities for the ART
Collaborates with Business Owner / Initiative Owners to decompose Initiatives into ART-level work efforts
Develops and owns the Agile Program Vision, Backlog and Program Increment (PI) Roadmap, continuously communicating to the Portfolio and Team levels
Develops Benefit Hypotheses and acceptance criteria
Works with Portfolio Management, where applicable, actively engaging in Portfolio-level meetings and providing insights into budget parameters
Partners with system architects to prioritize architecture work aligned with the architectural runway and business priorities
Actively participates in Team-level PI ceremonies
Provides strategic insights into work activities to help development teams in sizing
Participates in release management and solution validation, including partnering with application support teams to prioritize system defects and user feedback.
Support change management, training and communication needs.
Supports the development of a high performing Product Management team at CNA. Provides leadership and mentoring, coaching and development support to empower Product Owners to proactively manage product backlogs to deliver business value.

Bachelor's degree, with Master's preferred, in a related discipline or equivalent work experience
Typically a minimum of ten years of related work experience, preferably as a Product Manager, Product Owner or equivalent role implementing technology enhancements to policy administration or underwriting systems.
Experience with insurance, preferably Commercial insurance
Successful track record with Agile methodologies
Applicable certifications preferred - SAFe PO/PM, CSPO or PSPO

Position Summary
The Warranty Underwriter/ Account Manager is responsible for managing a portfolio of warranty clients to achieve revenue, profitability, program development, and growth goals. In this role you will use technical, sales and analytical skills to provide insurance solutions that help CNA's customers manage risk and grow profitably while also working collaboratively with the Warranty team to evaluate and implement new programs.

• Develops and maintains relationships with existing key clients and partners including distribution partners, third party administrators, manufacturers and retailers
• Responsible for all aspects of assigned account portfolio including account execution and results, cultivating new and existing client and broker relationships, and renewal negotiations

• Drives new opportunities for organic growth of third-party administrator and client partner accounts by analyzing new product and retailer opportunities and their associated underwriting criteria, assessing risk, and collaborating with technical underwriting and actuarial team members on recommendations and analyses
• Proactively identifies cross-sell opportunities and partners with other business units to deliver comprehensive insurance solutions for the customer
• Liaison with marketing and corporate communications team to effectively develop and execute the business unit's strategy for external marketing and communications
• Demonstrates technical underwriting skills through strategic, thorough account reviews and file documentation
• Prepares and analyzes information on adverse underwriting results, rate changes, and other underwriting criteria that impact client portfolio performance

Assess underwriting quality by reviewing files for selection, quoting, pricing, and compliance with corporate underwriting guidelines.
Prepare detailed reports on audit findings, highlighting trends, gaps, and recommendations for improvement.
Collaborate with Business Unit Liaisons to ensure all audit responses and necessary action plans are submitted within required time frames.
Support audit-related projects, collaborating with leadership and underwriting teams to implement findings and recommendations within established timelines.
Partner with the Audit Leader and team members to enhance underwriting quality assurance and operational efficiencies.
Contribute to the development and refinement of corporate underwriting guidelines, philosophies, and strategic initiatives.

Applies Risk Control policies, guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and drives the resolution of critical risk control issues that impact account profitability.
2. As a technical expert, provides risk control perspective across an entire account portfolio. Utilizes corporate and location level details to build a broad account level view of exposures and controls.
3. Produces desktop risk control evaluations that are comprehensive and able to inform underwriting decisions by leveraging third party engineering reports, insurance risk assessments, publicly available information, and data evaluation tools.
4. Develops global account strategies to positively impact loss ratios, new business goals and retention requirements to achieve profitability targets for the BU.
5. Develops and maintains business relationships with internal and external business partners. Known expert among Risk Control staff and CNA partners within SBU, actively shaping new industry relationships.
6. Supports the BU with technical expertise to ensure ongoing organizational learning, development, and advancement of key areas for Risk Control.
7. Engages with underwriting to drive corporate strategies for a BU.

1. Senior level technical and business management acumen, and knowledge of insurance, risk management principles, practices and procedures. Contract management skills.

3. Highest level of property risk assessment expertise including knowledge of fire protection and detection systems including applicable codes and standards, as well as demonstrated competency in fire behavior/fire science and plan review.
4. Ability to assess natural hazard risk such as convective storm, coastal wind and flood and communicate appropriate mitigation strategies for portfolio exposed locations.
5. Ability to assess human element programs and building systems, assemblies and materials, including roofing assemblies. Knowledge of loss expectancy methodologies across various perils a plus.
