Qualifications: Previous successful coaching experience at the middle school level or equivalent Comprehensive knowledge of volleyball techniques, strategies, and rules. Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes. Demonstrated commitment to the academic and personal development of student-athletes. CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). Successful completion of background checks and other required clearances. Bachelor's degree preferred. Serve as a Mentor for a team of approximately 20 youth (mentees): ● Serve as first point of staff level contact for the mentees. ● Help plan, set, and keep students on their program schedule. ● Maintain weekly contact with each mentee in person and via phone. ● Maintain regular contact with mentees' parent/guardian. ● Help SBU Education Director monitor student academic performance and assist in the collection of student report cards, transcripts, and school documents. ● Work with SBU Youth Counselor and Education Director to identify social, emotional, and academic issues or concerns. ● Check email daily and maintain good communication with SBU office staff ● Hold a weekly call with SBU office staff to discuss progress of each student-athlete on the team. ● Schedule one monthly in person meeting with program directors. ● Complete progress reports for each mentee two times per year. ● Attend program orientation/training (2 trainings per year) 2. This Spring season, we are offering leagues at multiple locations with a coed division that accommodates players in Grades 1-8th, followed by an All-Girls high school division and Boys high school division. All games and practices in our Saturday League will take place at Riverbank St. Park (679 Riverside Drive) from 10am-11:15am. Our Sunday League will take place at the Fieldston School (3901 Fieldston Road) from 10am-12:00pm . The teams are balanced through a coach's assessment and draft.
