The Asst. Director for Sports Performance will also perform professional and administrative services essential for the successful implementation and development of the program. Maintain knowledge and compliance with NCAA, SIAC, and University rules, regulations, and policies. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Monitor environmental conditions of playing and practice areas in order to make recommendations regarding the safety of the student-athlete, following accepted and recommended guidelines. · Provide education and counseling in health related matters to the student-athletes and coaches · Weight training certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS ) or (CSCCA) · Demonstrated experience as a weight/strength coach at the collegiate level, NCAA or Professional-level (a minimum of one year of experience is strongly desired) • Experience in general maintenance and repair of a weight room. • Knowledge of the physiological adaptations of the human body to active exercise; of teaching the safe and correct techniques in execution of weight training, speed development and conditioning. • Ability to motivate and evaluate specific individual psychic and physical needs respectively. • Ability to communicate effectively with both coaches and athletes. • Ability to lift and carry 50-80 pounds frequently and up to 100+ pounds occasionally. • Must stay abreast of program and design methodologies for respective sports within Athletics.
