The Electrical Systems Engineer is responsible for generating a working design concept and costs for material handling systems based on AutoCAD layouts and equipment lists. They will receive guidance from experienced Systems Engineers and managers. The majority of the design work will take place in a brownfield environment requiring attention detail with respect to product flow around existing conveyance and structures. Responsibilities: Utilize the existing FORTNA costing toolset to generate mechanical equipment costs for new material handling systems, modifications to existing systems and change orders. Collaborate with internal departments as required to estimate costs for electrical/controls engineering, electrical installation, project management, etc. Estimating other project costs such as freight, permits, etc. Evaluate customer Request for Quote (“RFQ”) documents and ensure that our costing is inclusive of their requirements and specifications. Generate RFQ documentation for external material and labor suppliers. Generate proposal documentation in Microsoft Word and Excel formats. Lead customer design review meetings. Lead executive level meetings to review project scope and costing with both internal stake holders and customers. Develop and maintain and enhance a working knowledge of customer specifications. Develop and maintain a working knowledge of various conveyor components such as conveyor drives, belting, sorters, etc. Analyze system layouts and flow rates as required to ensure proper system operation. Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Ability to analyze and modify AutoCAD 2D drawings. Ability to create electrical equipment lists, bill of materials, etc. Ability to analyze and evaluate existing control panels that will require modifications to support potential enhancements. Ability to analyze existing electrical systems (physical obstructions, conduit, etc.) in order to create viable working solutions for customers. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Ability to communicate, both orally and written, at all levels of the business and with customers Ability to perform detailed oriented work in a timely manner, ensuring deadlines are achieved. Ability to keep excellent records and details of documentation of the entire phase of the proposal process. Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time with changing priorities. Ability to coordinate and lead executive level project cost review meetings. Education and Experience: Associate or bachelor's degree in mechanical/industrial engineering or a related field 2-4+ years' experience in the material handling industry. 2-4+ years' experience estimating project costs is desired. Other Qualifications Desired: Have basic working knowledge of control systems related to material handling systems. AMR / AGV / Robotics experience a plus. PLC / HMI experience a plus. Physical Requirements: General office environment with normal sitting, standing and minimal, nominal lifting. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) may be required at customer locations. Some climbing may be required at customer locations. Other Relevant Information: Valid Driver's License Required. Valid Passport a plus. Travel Requirements: Approximately 25% travel to customer sites or for internal meetings. The base salary range for this role is $76,100 to $114,200. This base salary range represents the low and high end of the base salary range for this position. Actual base salary offered will vary based on various factors including but not limited to location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and performance. This is a remote position. Job Posting External Job Duties Provide engineering expertise in how electronic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems operate over a wide spectrum of applications and environments to improve the design and development of innovative forklifts and material handling equipment. Develop, conceive, and evaluate electro-mechanical based systems including software controls, specifications and performance analysis for lift trucks. * System Development Planning - Propose system definitions or specifications to meet a given set of guidelines. Propose plans for system development, testing and review. Work with engineering product teams to refine requirements. * System Development and Evaluation - Develop system concepts into a functional prototype. Model vehicle functions using modeling tools and generate functional software. Perform analysis of system to ensure that performance goals are met and that integrity of design is maintained and conforms to Company and industry standards. Participate in risk assessments and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEAs). Design specific testing as required to evaluate system design integrity and performance and review and evaluate test results. Properly document the system design, the design process, and the results of design evaluation, and communicate this information for critical review and decision making. Assess and document development progress with respect to plans and communicate this information to others for critical review. * Other Tasks - Advance and implement tools to automate development workflow and to improve the analysis of system data. Support other functional groups such as purchasing, legal, service, manufacturing, and product engineering when warranted. Work mostly onsite. Minimum Qualifications * Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related degree * 0-2 years of experience developing electro-mechanical systems (Salary will be commensurate with experience) * Good written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills * Ability to occasionally travel with overnight stays (0-5%) * Reliable transportation to travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday Preferred Qualifications * 2 or more years of experience developing electro-mechanical systems * Knowledge of modeling and simulation tools for system design and analysis, with MATLAB, Simulink, and Vector tools * Knowledge of software architecture, state diagrams, and C code * Experience with task management and version control software, with Jira, Confluence, GitHub, and Git desired Work Authorization: Indefinite U.S. work authorized individuals only. The Summer 2026 Electrical Engineering intern will work with Continuous Improvement, Engineering and Maintenance departments daily. JOB FUNCTIONS: Job functions include but are not limited to the following. * Assist the Engineering Department in managing improvement projects to meet facility goals * Review procedures, analyze data, and implement sustained process improvements * Help to identify potential changes needed to improve system / process effectiveness and efficiency * Collect and analyze data to incorporate trends and provide corrective action planning to Engineering Manager * Use technical skills and formal lean/six sigma methods to identify root causes and implement solutions, including design changes * Responsible for managing projects and providing weekly updates to Engineering Manager along with completing a Final Presentation to the Lead Team * This is a temporary position for approximately 3 months; could lead to possible fulltime employment at conclusion of internship * Other duties as assigned.
