Department Clinical Specialty Programs Serves in a variety of roles including clinician, educator, and consultant. As a clinician, promotes specialty care either directly or indirectly to patients with wound skin concerns including initial and follow-up assessments/evaluations and ordering specific follow-up when indicated. Provides education directly to healthcare consumers and caregivers, clinical staff, and healthcare providers. Serves as a consultant and liaison between nursing staff, medical staff, pharmacy and patients regarding wound care. This nurse is a self-directed expert practitioner with strong education and consultant skills. Department Cath Lab Prep and Recovery Provides professional nursing care to patients and families in an acute clinical care environment, guided by the SMHCS nursing professional practice model and in accordance with the ANA's Standards of Professional Practice. The Interventional Cardiology RN assumes responsibility for performing, delegating and coordinating nursing care for patients undergoing special cardiac procedures, including interventions that assist the patient in a conscious or semiconscious state, and monitoring patients having moderate sedation. The Interventional Cardiology RN identifies physiologic, psychological, and sociologic needs of the patient, develops and implements an individualized plan of care, coordinates interventions and evaluates outcomes of the patient's hospital experience. Department Critical Care Welcome to our Critical Care Nursing Department! Provides professional and skilled nursing care to patients using the "patient centered care" model of SMHCS (policy 126.054) in accordance with the ANA and AACN's Standards of Professional Practice. We are a 62 bed unit with 3 areas of specialties that you can work in. CVICU: Patient Population: patients with a primary diagnosis of advanced cardiovascular disease requiring complex nursing assessment skills and care including but not limited to: * Post Open Heart Surgical patient recovery * Cardiac Arrest * Left Ventricular Assist Device Care: Impella & IABP * ECMO (extra corporeal membrane oxygenation) * Advanced Hemodynamic Monitoring * Titration of vasoactive medications (inotropes, vasopressors, vasodilators) * Opportunities for Novice and Experienced Nurses: * Individualized orientation * Nurse Residency for all new graduates with the implementation of ECCO (essentials of critical care orientation) * Tuition Reimbursement * Opportunities for paid certification and incentivized pay including but not limited to CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse), TCAR * Critical Care Internship with knowledge base lecture series provided in the department * No new grads being hired for CVICU at this time.
