Community Education is looking for part-time contracted partnerships with dynamic entrepreneurs, hobbyists, musicians, artists, crafts, trades and business people to share their talents with our community. ComEd collaborates with partners to develop unique, individual classes to offer an exciting class catalog that includes a wide range of topics, such as the arts, interest, home, culinary, language and wellness! You are the expert, and we try to leave the class content, professionalism, and presentation primarily up to our instructors. We are always on the lookout for new, relevant class ideas!
ComEd publishes two catalogs a year and distributes to over 60,000 Sioux Falls area residents! Catalogs are released biannually in January and August. An example of our catalog of classes/programs can be found at ************************************
Instructors are encouraged to submit applications to ComEd that include a detailed description of new class/program ideas.
****Applications and class proposals must be submitted by November 1st for the January catalog consideration and June 1st for the August catalog consideration.

Responsibilities/Duties
Conduct outreach, engage in public speaking, and ensure those seeking support are connected to services. Serve as a main point of contact between contracted refugee health screening providers, other health providers, and Global Refuge, as well as the primary liaison between Global Refuge and the State Refugee Health Coordinator.
Review medical documents of serious medical condition cases and coordinate with case managers/community connectors to ensure clients with high medical needs receive timely and appropriate health services. Apprise State Refugee Health Coordinator of clients with serious medical condition cases, and health issues, and prepare action plans.
Coordinate refugee medical screening for serious medical need cases, working in collaboration with case managers/community connectors and refugee health partners to complete medical screening within 30-90 days of arrival or eligibility.
Provide guidance to the case manager/community connector when appropriate to ensure timely provision and coordination of post-screening appointments and medical services, particularly for those with serious health conditions. Remove barriers to help clients establish a medical home whenever possible. Collaborate with the NDHHS-funded Refugee Support Service Programs to fulfill the scope of the health service provisions established by the State.
Facilitate timely communication among state, medical providers, and resettlement agency staff to support the provision of needed services for those with serious medical conditions. Oversee delivery of health-related community cultural orientation, design and deliver pre-and-post assessments, and provide written and visual information on health topics.
Remove barriers to help case managers/community connectors arrange transportation as needed to complete refugee medical screening and follow-up medical appointments.
Provide guidance on Health care coverage plans. Conduct outreach to potential new providers to ensure adequate support for clients. Maintain an up-to-date list of communityhealth resources.
Work collaboratively with refugee medical screening partners, refugee health partners, and the State Refugee Health Coordinator to troubleshoot other barriers that inhibit refugees' access to health services and systems. Participate in ad hoc calls or meetings facilitated by the State Refugee Health Coordinator and Office of Refugee Services. Ensure the provision of gender equity services.
Submit written reports as required.
Deliver services in accordance with program guidelines.
Ensure that ORR-eligible populations are being served in a linguistically and culturally appropriate manner within the community and provide education and advocacy when necessary.
Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational objectives and goals. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health, or behavioral/ human services field or two years of experience providing case management and/or social services preferred.
Experience working with refugees, immigrants, or limited English speakers, is highly preferred. Fluency in one of the key languages used by client populations is a plus (includes but is not limited to Arabic, Dari, Farsi, French, and Swahili).
Proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, and database programs.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, troubleshoot, and follow projects through with attention to detail.
Ability to work as a team member and independently, with a high level of self-motivation.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, including keen listening ability and relationship building.
Must have reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and valid insurance and be able to travel locally as required. Cross-cultural or international experience preferred.

Job Description

Responsibilities/Duties
Conduct outreach, engage in public speaking, and ensure those seeking support are connected to services. Serve as a main point of contact between contracted refugee health screening providers, other health providers, and Global Refuge, as well as the primary liaison between Global Refuge and the State Refugee Health Coordinator.
Review medical documents of serious medical condition cases and coordinate with case managers/community connectors to ensure clients with high medical needs receive timely and appropriate health services. Apprise State Refugee Health Coordinator of clients with serious medical condition cases, and health issues, and prepare action plans.
Coordinate refugee medical screening for serious medical need cases, working in collaboration with case managers/community connectors and refugee health partners to complete medical screening within 30-90 days of arrival or eligibility.
Provide guidance to the case manager/community connector when appropriate to ensure timely provision and coordination of post-screening appointments and medical services, particularly for those with serious health conditions. Remove barriers to help clients establish a medical home whenever possible. Collaborate with the NDHHS-funded Refugee Support Service Programs to fulfill the scope of the health service provisions established by the State.
Facilitate timely communication among state, medical providers, and resettlement agency staff to support the provision of needed services for those with serious medical conditions. Oversee delivery of health-related community cultural orientation, design and deliver pre-and-post assessments, and provide written and visual information on health topics.
Remove barriers to help case managers/community connectors arrange transportation as needed to complete refugee medical screening and follow-up medical appointments.
Provide guidance on Health care coverage plans. Conduct outreach to potential new providers to ensure adequate support for clients. Maintain an up-to-date list of communityhealth resources.
Work collaboratively with refugee medical screening partners, refugee health partners, and the State Refugee Health Coordinator to troubleshoot other barriers that inhibit refugees' access to health services and systems. Participate in ad hoc calls or meetings facilitated by the State Refugee Health Coordinator and Office of Refugee Services. Ensure the provision of gender equity services.
Submit written reports as required.
Deliver services in accordance with program guidelines.
Ensure that ORR-eligible populations are being served in a linguistically and culturally appropriate manner within the community and provide education and advocacy when necessary.
Participate in performance-related goal setting and achievement to meet personal and organizational objectives and goals. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Public Health, or behavioral/ human services field or two years of experience providing case management and/or social services preferred.
Experience working with refugees, immigrants, or limited English speakers, is highly preferred. Fluency in one of the key languages used by client populations is a plus (includes but is not limited to Arabic, Dari, Farsi, French, and Swahili).
Proficient in the use of MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, and database programs.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, troubleshoot, and follow projects through with attention to detail.
Ability to work as a team member and independently, with a high level of self-motivation.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, including keen listening ability and relationship building.
Must have reliable transportation, a clean driving record, and valid insurance and be able to travel locally as required. Cross-cultural or international experience preferred.
