CLASS CHARACTERISTICS Maintenance Aides may be assigned a variety of routine medium to heavy laboring tasks related to the custodial maintenance of parks, streets, and City facilities. This differs from Maintenance Worker I, Groundskeeper-Gardener, Equipment Utility Worker I, and Utility Worker I who are required to perform work requiring greater job skills and less supervision. Normal work assignments may include evenings and weekends. Incumbents may be assigned to various departments in the City. Appointees to positions within this class shall be limited to appointments not to exceed 1000 hours (125) days in a fiscal year. The DCMO ensures all standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements are upheld and serves as representative to regulatory bodies and key stakeholders, including the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC), Federal Transit Administration (FTA), Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E), and San Francisco Department of Public Health (SFDPH). A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in engine mechanics, electrical systems, brakes, steering, and suspension or completion of a recognized automotive training program in high school or a technical, trade, community or junior college.
