Job Summary
Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overseeing the financial operations of Uptown Community Health Center and making decisions based on the company's financial stability. Their duties include monitoring cash flow, meeting with the Chief Executive Officer to discuss the best practices for company finances and developing strategic plans to improve their company's overall financial health.
The CFO is a 1.0 FTE equivalent position devoted to Uptown Community Health Center.

Reviews the planning process and suggests improvements to current methods.
Analyzes operations to identify areas in need of reorganization.
Oversee annual audits on time and with minimal or no adjustments.
Partner with senior leaders to push the boundaries of current and future departmental goals and strategies. Clearly articulate the key drivers of the business.
Led the Accounting and Finance team to ensure excellence in service delivery and future needs.
Demonstrate proven ability in developing models and conducting analyses that identify critical trends, support strategic decision-making, and create forward visibility.
Drive change within the organization through robust financial analysis and strong business partnerships.
Develop and maintain systems of internal controls to safeguard assets.

The Sr. Manager of Finance will play a key role in managing the financial health of our projects, supporting capital campaigns, and executing strategic financial projects. Capitalization & Funding (35%)

Position Summary
The Plant Controller is the on-site financial leader for the manufacturing facility, responsible for delivering accurate financial reporting, strong cost accounting discipline, and actionable insights to drive operational and financial performance. This role partners closely with operations, purchasing, supply chain, corporate finance and head office leadership to ensure rigorous management of production costs, inventory, and plant-level KPIs.
Ideal candidates have deep experience in precision machining, metal fabrication, or other high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments with complex routings and cost structures.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Controls
Own month-end close for the plant, including customer invoicing, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and variance analyses.
Prepare plant-level P&L, balance sheet, and cash forecasts; explain performance drivers to local and corporate leadership.
Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, GAAP, annual audit, and internal controls.
Maintain fixed asset accounting, capital project tracking, and depreciation schedules.
Cost Accounting
Maintain accurate standard job costs, including labor, burden, and material rates.
Lead BOM/Routings and Jobs/Work Order reviews with engineering and operations.
Perform detailed manufacturing variance analysis (labor efficiency, scrap, purchasing price variance, overhead absorption).
Analyze machine utilization, job costing, and margin performance by product line, customer, or work center.
Conduct physical inventory counts and develop cycle count programs; lead reconciliation and root-cause analysis of discrepancies.
Operational Finance & Business Partnering
Provide financial leadership to the Plant Manager and operations team; participate in daily/weekly Gemba/operations reviews.
Support continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) by quantifying savings and validating benefits.
Develop and monitor KPIs such as OEE, scrap rates, labor productivity, throughput, and cost per machine hour.
Evaluate make-vs-buy decisions, quoting assumptions, and margin improvement opportunities.
Partner with supply chain on vendor cost management and inventory reduction initiatives.
Budgeting & Forecasting
Lead the plants annual budgeting process and quarterly forecasts.
Develop cash flow projections and track working capital performance.
Prepare scenario analyses for production volumes, pricing changes, and operational initiatives.
Systems & Process Improvement
Drive utilization and optimization of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., JobBOSS, Global Shop, etc.).
Improve accuracy and timeliness of shop floor data capture (labor reporting, scrap, routings).
Implement stronger controls around material movement, job closure, and WIP tracking.
Automate reporting and improve visibility into financial and operational performance.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline
5+ years of experience in manufacturing accounting; precision metal parts, CNC machining, or fabrication strongly preferred.
Solid understanding of cost accounting, inventory accounting, and manufacturing variances.
Hands-on experience in a plant environment interacting directly with production teams.
Strong Excel skills; proficiency in ERP systems.
Ability to communicate complex financial issues clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement and operational discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in private equity-owned manufacturing environments.

Specific Areas of Focus Include:
Financials:
Work with SPW RC on draft financials, attend monthly review meetings, and finalize monthly regional financials - including maintaining/developing various reporting packages
Maintain, update, and audit the Southeast business unit backlog data
Consolidate monthly project fee reporting, analyze variances, and summarize key drivers
Monitoring overhead cost trends and investigate unusual trends
Participate in monthly/quarterly overhead reviews
Assist with preparation of overhead recovery entries, specific to self-perform work
Review project cost reports anomalies with RC and share any risks/reserves not reported or needed based on experience
Controller:
Track and monitor labor productivity including the understanding of the specific labor rate structure(s)
Ensure project set-up is accurate in and in line with company standards (use of cost codes, rates, etc.)
Miscellaneous - data mining as needed for SPW RC for any reason to demonstrate performance, results, “what-ifs”, changes year over year, etc.
Support monthly risk/reserve analysis for active projects
Assist in the development of the SPW financial statements based on booked and backlog work, projected labor hours and overhead trends. Includes analysis around actuals vs. plan and updating trend projections
Participate in internal/external audits and help the team provide the follow up information necessary.
Accounting:
Participate in potential new project accountants and support for all accountants' performance and career development (suggest training, develop growth plans, etc.) Organize periodic peer group meeting (balance workload, learning component, regional updates, etc.). Identify topics and issues that need to be communicated with adjacent groups. Communicate and drive billing best practices with the accounting group (billing process map, roles & responsibilities, use of Textura, etc.,) Follow up SPW project managers and Lead Project Accountants on timeliness of invoices and pending changes orders.
General:

Financial Accounting
* Diligently collect, prepare, and record financial transactions to produce accurate and reliable financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements) in accordance with IFRS, including the reconciliation of all intercompany transactions with the site's trading partners
* Perform monthly balance sheet reviews with a special focus on Net Working Capital movements, highlighting any potential risks to management
Liquidity Forecasting

Accounting Operations Oversight

Treasury & Risk Management

Essential Job Functions
1. Manage the accounting team with responsibility for general accounting, cash management, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, revenue recognition, sales and operational contracts.
2. Oversee the monthly and quarterly closing process ensuring that all accounts and reporting systems are following appropriate GAAP and regulatory requirements.
3. Present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner, and clearly communicate monthly, quarterly and annual financial results to the management team.
4. Assists accounting team in the day to day operations of the department, including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, equipment fleet management, inventory management and general ledger.
5. Monitors and analyzes department work to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
6. Coordinate and manage periodic and annual audits. Manage all planning for year-end audit and tax filings, including preparation of information for outside CPA/auditor firm.
7. Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings, including sales and use tax.
8. Responsible for the production of an approved annual financial and operating budget. Support the management team in the annual budgeting process.
9. Develop and maintain internal control systems and safeguards over all assets, revenues, and costs.
10. Recommend improvements to ensure the integrity of the company's financial information.
11. Oversee financial and operational systems
12. Create reports in the ERP to streamline accounting processes.
13. Review any needed upgrades/maintenance.
14. Work closely with Project Managers on work in progress reports.
15. Other duties as assigned.

Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience with financial modeling and analysis
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Experience with financial software and tools, such as QuickBooks, Excel, and ERP systems
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to build and manage effective teams.
