PREPARES PROGRAMMING PROJECTS by creating DDC programs per Division standard practices; creating full documentation of programming (i.e. gray manual); creating all needed project displays; testing DDC and displays for proper operation; organizing turnover to technicians; following up on work results.
COORDINATES PROGRAMMING ISSUES DURING CONSTRUCTION by completing needed DDC/display changes per field recommendation or change orders; assisting technicians with commissioning of DDC; making site visits as needed.
ENSURES PROPER SYSTEM OPERABILITY by assisting in an onsite performance verification (“Big Picture Checkout”) with the HBT technician to verify the system is functioning as it was designed.
COMPLETES DESIGN PACKAGES by accepting project close-out package from Project Management; completing needed As-built documentation; archiving design backups per Division standard practice; distributing completed As-built documentation per Division standard practice; assisting with turnover to Service department as needed.

Job Description
To manage maintain and develop the process control systems of the Haile Gold Operation.
JOB RESPONSIBILITES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for all control systems including programmable controllers, data acquisition systems, operator interfaces and communications networks.
Monitoring and optimization of control system performance to achieve optimum process plant stability.
Providing assistance to electrical and instrumentation staff with faultfinding of electrical, control system and instrumentation faults.
Providing mentoring and training to process plant technical staff.
Implementation of systems for version control, code and data backup and system recovery.
Assist technical staff with development of control system strategies for plant improvement projects.
Design and implement new systems for plant expansion projects.
Development of operational SOP's for critical PLC functions
Modify and update HMI's
Optimize existing control strategies - ACE and Virtual instruments
Advance plant Automation and control to minimize operator interaction
Planning:
Develop a strategy for expanding the control system with the expanding asset.
Implement a process of continuous improvement of the process control and operating framework.
Other:
Carries out all other duties that may reasonably be required safety and effectively
Qualifications
Education:
Relevant technical degree or diploma
Experience:
3-5 years' experience in process control systems.
Working knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
Proficient with Wonderware InTouch SCADA system.
Proficient with Schneider Quantum & M580 PLCs and Unity Pro software.
Understanding of Rockwell RSLogix and RTView Studio packages
Understanding of OSISoft PI software.
Working knowledge of industrial communications and networking methods.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
Occasionally may be required to work early morning or evening hours to meet global organizational needs.
Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.

The Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and implementing control systems for manufacturing equipment to ensure safety, efficiency, and quality. This role involves project management, system configuration, PLC programming, equipment upgrades, troubleshooting, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The engineer will work on capital projects, interface with stakeholders like vendors, and support process improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities
+ Configure, standardize, and optimize control systems for equipment and processes, acting as a liaison between end-users and system developers.
+ Develop and execute projects from start to finish, including defining project scopes, creating plans, and managing budgets and timelines.
+ Develop and implement PLC code for machine and process control.
+ Participate in the upgrade, rebuild, installation, and startup of process equipment, providing technical assistance for production and maintenance.
+ Analyze process measures, identify opportunities for Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) improvements, and solve problems to improve efficiency and reduce process variation.

Work Environment
This position is based in a steel mill, which is a hot and loud environment. The engineer will have a desk outside the plant but will also spend time on the plant floor. The dress code is casual, allowing jeans and collared shirts.

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.
