Job Summary and Qualifications Performs direct patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse. Maintains a safe patient care environment. Fulfills departmental responsibilities that foster the goals of the hospital's mission and vision statements. When functioning as a Tech First Assistant (Tech III), I demonstrated knowledge of surgical assisting and closure. What you will do in this role: Demonstrates knowledge of applying surgical gloves using aseptic technique and maintaining a sterile field. Demonstrates knowledge of preparing for surgery by "pulling" the appropriate supplies and instruments for the procedure. Understands and recognizes the different surgical instruments and their applications. Displays appropriate knowledge of Anatomy and Physiology to prepare and assist in surgical procedures. Maintains a safe sterile field by a - positioning sharps correctly b - labeling all medications on sterile field c - understanding of electrocautery and other devices that generate heat to prevent possible fires in the O.R. d - Participating in a "timeout" with rest of the surgical team to maintain patient safety. Demonstrates ability to appropriately set up for a surgical procedure and follow protocol in the counting of supplies/instruments to ensure no foreign object is left inside of the patient. Understands the principles of and can competently assist a surgeon during a procedure and possesses adequate knowledge of the procedure itself. Displays the ability to differentiate sutures and their applications. Demonstrates the ability to close a surgical site (under physician supervision) with appropriate suture. Demonstrates a teamwork approach in the care of a patient during the perioperative phase. What qualifications you will need: Graduate of a Surgical Technology program or military equivalent training in the Surgical Technologist role is required. Certification in Surgical Technology or verifiable Surgical Tech experience prior to 9/1/2009 is required. Current BCLS certification from the American Heart Association required. 1 year of Surgical Technologist experience is preferred. TAVR procedures are also done in the endovascular OR Thoracic cases include both laparoscopic, robot assisted and open procedures. Vascular procedures range from placement/revision of ESRD grafts/fistulas to endovascular procedures in the endovascular OR. The CVOR service line is comprised of 4-6 ORs depending on daily volume including an endovascular suite. The CVOR service line has the capacity to do four concurrent procedures requiring cardiopulmonary bypass. Candidates applying to this order must have a minimum of 3 years of recent full time experience as a CVOR technologist in a high volume hospital setting, with demonstrated proficiency in all aspects of cardiac/thoracic/vascular procedures. Candidates with less experience or requiring extensive onboarding will not be considered Current CST certification required, must provide verifiable references from at least two prior travel assignments confirming no training was needed. Must be able to function independently in a fast paced surgical environment with the ability to hit the ground running. The schedule will either be 8, 10 or 12 day hour shifts Monday-Friday based on department need at the time of interview. Description Summary: The Emergency Medical Technician EMS is responsible for administering appropriate emergency medical treatment to people who have been injured in accidents or have other medical conditions, and assists in rendering advanced emergency medical treatment. Ability to operate an advanced life support ambulance to administer care. Routinely assists with the inspection of the ambulance and related equipment to ensure proper operation and sanitary cleanliness. Responsibilities: Responds to the site of life-threatening situations, emergency medical situations and non-emergency calls. Assists in coordinating response activities with physicians to develop a plan of care based upon the assessment of the patient. Assists in leading a team of responders by coordinating activities to conduct triage, develop treatment plans, administer medical care and prepare p a t I e n t for transport to medical facility. Insures the proper functioning of all emergency medical equipment and vehicles through regular checks; makes sure there is an adequate inventory supply maintained aboard emergency vehicles through regular checks. Assists in the cleaning of station location. Interacts with firefighters, law enforcement and other non-medical personnel at emergency scenes. Performs related administrative tasks and all detailed documentation in compliance with Federal, State, and local regulations. Handles hazardous materials, and ensures appropriate disposal in hazardous materials containers. Ensures compliance to all OSHA regulations for Infection Control, Hazardous Materials Standards, and all job duties. Responds to multiple casualty incidents and disasters and assists in providing appropriate medical oversight, triage, care, and transport in coordination with other responders. Participates in periodic in-service training, or on an as needed basis, for any certified and non-certified updates relating to Emergency Medical Services and federal, State, and local EMT-B requirements. Operates and utilizes an ambulance and related medical care response equipment and tools needed in response situations. Makes decisions that conform to the norms, policies, and values of Champion EMS and adhere to federal, state, and local compliance and policy requirements. Other duties as assigned.
