Alternatively, a Professional Engineer license combined with 4 or more years of Fire Protection Engineering experience will be accepted in lieu of a degree in Fire Protection. Minimum experience required of the position Minimum of 4 years of experience in fire protection engineering preferred. Nuclear power plant experience is preferred. If not a graduate of an accredited engineering curriculum, a minimum of 6 years of engineering experience indicative of growth in engineering competency and achievement is required. Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position Detailed knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and regulations, including NFPA standards. Technical understanding of fire protection systems and nuclear power plant operations. Working knowledge of plant procedures, systems, and processes related to fire protection. Skilled in the use of Microsoft desktop software. Outstanding communication, conflict management, and change management skills. Knowledgeable in probabilistic risk analysis methods and system analysis. Strong written and oral communication skills. Any certificates, licenses, etc., required for the position Desired: Membership in the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE). Desired: Participation in industry groups such as the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI), Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), or National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Desired: SRO license or certification on a PWR or BWR; Professional Engineering license.
