Responsibilities Performs venipunctures, heel sticks, and finger sticks to obtain blood samples for testing purposes. Properly identifies patients and follows procedures for collection of specimens. The phlebotomist works under the immediate supervision of the Medical Technologist/Technician, is primarily responsible for the phlebotomy procedures, including veni-punctures, finger sticks, heel sticks, bleeding times, urine collection and drug screen collections.
