Custom Inc company history timeline

1942

Rather than abandon their vocation, the four friends turned the challenge into opportunity and decided to start their own business. It all began in 1942, when four salesmen from Whitehead Monel Kitchen Company found themselves facing a challenge that would change the course of their careers.

1968

inspired by the iconic 1968 Mexico Olympics font originally designed by Lance Wyman (we couldn't resist seeing how our logo would look) screen printed on a cotton-rich t-shirt with a perfect material blend that is incredibly soft with great drape, stretch and recovery.

1972

In 1972, Wood-Mode opened its first showroom, adjacent to its Kreamer factory.

1982

In 1982, as Wood-Mode celebrated its 40th anniversary, the kitchen market exploded.

1984

In 1984, Wood-Mode introduced Design Group 84 – an innovative frameless line of custom cabinetry.

1999

The Custom Ink story began in 1999 when three former college classmates got the bug to start a business about a year after graduating.

2000

In March 2000, Custom Ink was officially launched with a small team of “Inkers” running the show - all from different backgrounds - but with big hearts.

2003

In 2003, Marc held a company-wide meeting to officially introduce our core values of The Golden Rule, Ownership, and Innovation.
