Provide analytic services and research including (1) studies on student academic progress, retention and graduation, and student outcomes; (2) regular reports on graduation cohorts by college and demographic groups; (3) key indicators of student progress; (4) studies of students who do not complete their degree; (5) benchmarks on degree completion at peer institutions; and (6) other studies as requested.
Develop and implement evaluations of the impact of university initiatives designed to increase degree completion and shorten time to degree for both undergraduate and graduate students. Prepare guidelines, reference materials, and protocols for implementation of the evaluation studies, including but not limited to, processes such as pilot testing, sampling, data collection, data coding, and data storage. Exercise oversight of the implementation of evaluation tools and strategies used in studies, providing training and guidance to staff as necessary to assure that effective evaluations are conducted.
Develop instruments, tools, and strategies for collecting data needed to identify factors that influence student academic progress and degree completion, including but not limited to questionnaires, tests, focus groups, interview protocols, assessments, and use of existing institutional, peer, and national data. Align research studies with definitions and standards required by the Florida Board of Governors and the Federal Department of Education. Determine the reliability and validity of any instruments or protocols that are used.
Organize, analyze, interpret, synthesize and summarize data from a variety of local, peer, and national sources. These may include data from legacy and current student operational systems, academic program plans, learning assessment, student surveys, student placement and earnings data, and information about students who leave the university. Produce oral and written reports based on these data that are methodologically sound and meet the guidelines and requirements of the university, state and federal governments, and other external agencies such as SACS.

Required Qualifications: Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience. Preferred:
Doctorate or Master's degree in a quantitative area of specialization and three years of directly-related experience in higher education with data analysis, modeling, program evaluation and/or assessment.
Graduate level training in research methodology and statistics. Experience working with large, complex data sets. Demonstrated expertise in measurement and assessment of student learning outcomes. Experience writing technical, analytic and evaluation reports.
Skill in using statistical software such as SAS or SPSS as well as common database and office software. Experience using common business intelligence tools, like Tableau and Power BI.
Requires a broad understanding of issues and sources of information in higher education, quantitative and qualitative research methods; demonstrated ability to synthesize and transform data into useful information; excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to function in a team setting, to lead or facilitate meetings, and to communicate effectively with staff, faculty and senior administrators.

Normal work schedule will be from 8:00 to 5:00 for a 40-hour week. However, there are times when
weekend work will be required to accommodate working with volunteers across the state.
The primary work location is 7922 NW 71st Street, Gainesville, FL 32653. Occasional out-of-area travel with an overnight stay may be required to attend Regional Volunteer and State Agency meetings, as well as conference and/or other research activities.

Expected Salary:
$53,000 - $60,000 commensurate with education and experience
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area.
Preferred:
* A master's degree in data science or a closely related field 2-5 years of relevant experience with environmental data; OR
* A master's degree in environmental science, limnology, or a closely related field AND 2-5 years of relevant database experience.
Desirable skills
* Experience designing, maintaining, and/or working with databases of low to moderate complexity, using SQL programming language.
* Experience with the coding language R, including R-Markdown and Shiny applications.
* Significant experience working with relational databases, including Experience with the Florida DEP's Watershed Information Network (WIN).
* Strong interpersonal skills that facilitate effective teamwork.
* Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to self-learn, as needed.
* Experience with website design and content creation.
* Knowledge of statistical theories and principles, and experience with statistical modeling, particularly in a relevant environmental field.
* Familiarity with data generated from analytical instrumentation and quality assurance and control practices.

* Experience conducting scientific research, including but not limited to data analysis, proposal and publication co-authorship, and scientific presentations.
* Knowledge of limnological principles; knowledge of aquatic ecology and water chemistry.

Extension Program Reporting: The Data Management Analyst I prepares NIFA reports, as well as state-, regional-, county-, and client satisfaction-specific reporting. This includes creating programmatically focused infographics and reports, gathering information from Extension Faculty who are directly involved in the work. Coordinates with the Management Analyst to schedule and facilitate progress report meetings. Works in close collaboration with the Content & Communication Manager to compile analyzed data and craft narratives showcasing the achievements and progress of Extension programs, ensuring alignment with the requirements of NIFA and County Partners, as well as organizational requirements and stakeholder expectations. Monitor usage of the Extension Workload and remind faculty of reporting periods. Request required items for reporting, including patents, licensing and expenditure data.
Collaboration and Coordination:
Coordinate and collaborate with the Extension Dean, Extension Program Leaders, IFAS Research, and FAMU representatives to support the development of an executive summary, merit review, and stakeholder description. The Data Management Analyst I also partners with all members of the A&BI team, demonstrating collegial and professional behavior (both verbal and non-verbal) to ensure that communications around programmatic updates are clear, aligned, and effectively support strategic communication goals.
Extension Reporting Documentation:
