Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
+ Education: Pursuing or has graduated with a Master's degree in a quantitative field (Operations Research, Computer Science, Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Analytics, etc.) or possess equivalent work experience.
+ Technical Skills: Proficient in programming languages such as Python and familiar with data science/machine learning libraries like OpenCV, scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow/Keras, and Pandas.
+ Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence others to take action.

+ Analytic Methodologies: Experience applying analytic methodologies such as Machine Learning, Optimization, and Simulation to real-world problems.

84.51° is divided into two models made up of cross-functional teams: the Kroger model and the Commercial model. All Data Science interns will be given a project and be assigned to one of our specific Data Science groups aligned to one of our business teams.
As a Data Science Intern, you are assigned to and embedded within one of our business teams. We expect all data scientists to be hands on with respects to the analysis of a retailer database, using the full suite of 84.51° technical tools - including Python, SQL, Excel, and other internal tools - to create timely, relevant, and actionable insights.
The Loyalty Strategy & Rewards (LSR) team is accountable for Kroger's current loyalty program and defining evolution to the future loyalty program. The LSR data science team supports this work by providing measurements and insights that equip the business to connect with members, drive valuable behavior change, and grow emotional loyalty with Kroger.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Working with business partners to support Kroger's Loyalty Program, inclusive of Free Tier (Kroger Plus, Fuel Points, and Kroger Plus 2.0) and Boost Paid Tier.
Generating actionable insights and data to drive business decisions, including measurement of paid tier and free tier loyalty initiatives.
Effectively managing projects, tasks and stakeholders to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to brief specification while ensuring minimal downtime and maximum utilization.
Partnering with 84.51° Product & Engineering, as well as KTD partners.
Quality Assurance of own code and that of team members to ensure the highest quality work is being delivered to our clients.
Identifying opportunities for standardization & automation of existing solutions and processes to enable 84.51° to realize the maximum potential from our teams and free up capacity for innovation.
Challenging and improving 84.51° analytical capabilities/products.
Working closely with key internal stakeholders to ensure sound knowledge of client objectives and customer insight, to subsequently design best-in-class solutions.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in mathematics, statistics, analytics, data science or related discipline.
2+ years of experience applying data science, statistical learning, or AI to solve complex business problems.
2+ years of experience in extracting insights from large databases, translating market research into actionable solutions, and presenting findings and recommendations to clients or stakeholders.
Data visualization and BI skills + ability to present technical solutions to non-technical audience.
Experience partnering with consulting teams to prioritize, scope and deliver analytical solutions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills - including excellent verbal, written, presentation and consultation skills.
Strong time and project management skills; the ability to balance multiple, simultaneous work items and prioritize as necessary.
Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills and ability to work in a collaborative environment.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills paired with business acumen and interest in grocery loyalty.

The stated salary range represents the entire span applicable across all geographic markets from lowest to highest. Actual salary offers will be determined by multiple factors including but not limited to geographic location, relevant experience, knowledge, skills, other job-related qualifications, and alignment with market data and cost of labor. In addition to salary, this position is also eligible for variable compensation.

* Solid ETL development, reporting knowledge based off intricate understanding of business process and measures;
* Knowledge of Snowflake cloud data warehouse, Fivetran data integration and dbt transformations is preferred;
* Knowledge of Python is preferred;
* Knowledge of REST API;
* Basic knowledge of SQL Server databases is required;
* Knowledge of C#, Azure development is a bonus; and
