THIS RECRUITMENT IS LIMITED TO CWF SANITATION DEPARTMENT EMPLOYEES BRIEF DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this position is to ensure that Commercial trash and debris are collected and disposed. This is accomplished by operating front load sanitation trucks and large vehicles, collecting trash and refuse, and transporting to the appropriate location. Other duties include acting in a lead position, completing preventive maintenance and minor repairs, and related tasks as assigned.

# Code Essential Functions
1 L Regular and reliable attendance in compliance with given schedules is a mandatory requirement of this position. Schedules may be subject to change with or without advance notice
2 M Collects, moves or relocates trash and refuse by operating front load sanitation trucks and large vehicles, driving routes, ensuring trash is collected regularly. Must be able to manage up to six different routes per week with daily route changes. The truck will be operated in tight situations with low wires and obstructions. Dumpster enclosures will be opened and the employee may be required to move the dumpster for collection. May act as back-up lead operator in the absence of the supervisor and may act as the division Safety Officer. Coordination with the customer on dumpster locations, truck access and extra dumps will be required on a daily basis. Difficult customers will be encountered and must be dealt with tactfully and fairly.
3 M Performs customer service actions by moving blocked carts, calling in misplaced carts, fixing wheels and lids, tagging carts improperly set, and picking up loose materials.
4 M Maintains and inspects trucks and equipment by reviewing condition prior to beginning routes, completing inspection reports, notifying supervision, re-inspection at the end of the route, cleaning, sanitizing, and reporting malfunctions and items needing repair.

MAJOR DUTIES

Perform skilled and semi-skilled work in the operation of specialized trucks and motorized equipment used for a variety of job functions in the Public Works Department (PWD) and operate tools and equipment in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures under basic supervision.
HEAVY EQUIPMENTOPERATOR TRAINEE
* Operate a variety of specialized equipment to maintain Pinal County roads, roadways, drainage systems and infrastructure, in accordance with all safety regulations and procedures.
* Operate PWD vehicles and motorized equipment, including light trucks, water trucks, mowers, loaders, and back hoes.
* Perform manual labor tasks, repair pot holes, clear debris from culverts and roadway, and move and set barricades.
* Work on assigned projects and make appropriate decisions based on work experience.
* Maintain required daily logs, reports, and maintenance records.
* Clean and perform routine maintenance work on trucks and equipment, identify and report mechanical problems requiring additional repair, and notify supervisors of repair problems beyond the scope of authority.
* Follow all safety rules and regulations, utilize proper safety precautions in all work performed, and report safety hazards, equipment problems, and emergency situations.

HEAVY EQUIPMENTOPERATOR

* Control ongoing work projects to assure that safety rules and regulations are followed.

* Must obtain Class A Arizona State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) "standard transmission" with tanker endorsements within the first 5 months of employment; failure to maintain the required CDL may be grounds for termination.
Preferred Qualifications
* One (1) year of construction, maintenance, or related equipment experience.
* CPR/First Aid Certified
* Valid CDL Permit
Special Requirements:
* Trainees must obtain a Class A CDL Learner's Permit within the first 90 days of employment to remain on track to obtain Class A CDLs "standard transmission with tanker endorsements within the first 5 months of employment.
HEAVY EQUIPMENTOPERATOR:
* Three (3) years of experience in construction, maintenance, and related equipment OR one (1) year of experience as a Pinal County Operator (Trainee).
* Must obtain Class A Arizona State Commercial Driver's License (CDL) "standard transmission" with tanker endorsements within the first 5 months of employment; failure to maintain the required CDL may be grounds for termination.
* Or an equivalent combination of training, education, or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.
Preferred Qualifications
OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certification. First Aid / CPR / AED training upon hire.
Basic Work Zone & Traffic Control (Flagger Certification) upon hire.

* Trainees who are rehires of less than one year of separation will automatically be placed into the Heavy EquipmentOperator Trainee classification until the 6-month requirement is met.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is very heavy work and requires exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work also requires the ability to balance, climb, crawl, crouch, finger, feel, grasp, handle, reach, kneel, lift, pull, push, perform repetitive motion, walk, operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment, hear, speak, stand, stoop, walk, and demonstrate mental and visual acuity. May be required to be on-call.

JOB SUMMARY

Emergency Management Responsibilities
During emergency conditions, the incumbent of this position will automatically be considered an emergency service worker. This employee is subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane, or other emergency situations and is expected to perform emergency service duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements

JOB SUMMARY
Performs various project work which requires safely operating vehicles and a variety of heavy equipment that may include but not limited to; front end loader, reach stacker, top picker, yard jockey, and track mobile. tractor.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for safely and efficiently operating heavy machinery to move, stage, and load bulk sugar and containers in support of rail operations.
Assist with material movement, container staging, and/or loading/unloading operations to support reach stacker and loading activities.
Load and/or unload containers from/to ABC flat railcars in accordance with load plans and rail safety protocols.
Work closely with Heavy EquipmentOperator Lead, yard personnel and dispatch to coordinate loading/unloading schedules.
Safely and efficiently operate all assigned equipment, including but not limited JD 644J, 744J, 824J, 300D and/or TS9972 vehicles and other ancillary site equipment.
Responsible for conducting daily pre-operational inspections and completion of equipment logbooks while documenting any equipment malfunctions or unsafe conditions.
Required to maintain record of operation including, but not limited to, daily operating data and abnormal conditions.
Ensures that the operation of the equipment meets or exceeds contractual and regulatory compliance.
Ensure all sugar handling follows quality and contamination control standards.
Performs preventive maintenance of equipment in accordance with manufacturers' O&M manuals and company SOPs.
Assist where necessary to support facility maintenance activities including preventive maintenance and repairs.
Perform general assignments as necessary to ensure the safe, clean and efficient operation of the area.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED)
Valid Drivers' License
Minimum 2 years of project work experience preferred
Minimum 3 years commercial driving/heavy equipment experience preferred
Safe driving record: No serios tickets or accidents in the last 5 years or DWI/DUI in last 10 years
