In this exciting position, you'll be the go-to expert for on-site diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance of refuse collection vehicles, including front loaders, rear loaders, side loaders, and roll-off trucks, across New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Key Responsibilities: As a Mobile Refuse Mechanic, your day-to-day will include: Performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on refuse collection vehicles right at customer sites. Servicing hydraulic systems, electrical systems, compaction equipment, and lifting arms. Conducting preventive maintenance, including inspections, adjustments, and component replacements. Operating a service truck equipped with all necessary tools and parts to complete field repairs. Documenting work performed, parts used, and service recommendations for each job. Communicating effectively with customers to explain issues, timelines, and solutions. Ensuring safety standards are upheld at all times while working on heavy equipment. Qualifications: To be a successful candidate, you should have: 3+ years of experience as a diesel, heavy-duty, or refuse truck mechanic (field/mobile experience preferred). Strong expertise in hydraulic and electrical systems used in refuse trucks. Familiarity with McNeilus, Heil, Labrie, or similar refuse bodies is a significant plus. The ability to diagnose and repair heavy-duty truck systems with minimal supervision. A valid drivers license with a clean driving record (CDL is a plus). Strong mechanical aptitude and exceptional problem-solving skills. The physical capability to lift up to 75 lbs and work outdoors year-round.
