General Description of the Job Class
Apply ionizing radiation to the patient (inclusive of pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations) in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist and under the general supervision of the Chief Therapist.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
*Deliver accurately the prescribed planned course of radiation therapy with minimal supervision.
*Check prescription, diagnosis, chart and patient identification.
*Explain procedure to patient, means of communication during treatment and procedure to follow if emergency arises during treatment. *Reinforce Radiation Oncologist's advice to patient regarding reactions to treatment and their care.
*Prepare room and equipment for patient according to prescription regarding immobilization devices, field size, treatment distance, lead protection devices, etc.
*Transfer patient safely to treatment couch, giving special care to catheters, intravenous drips, etc.
*Check daily treatment time and delivers prescribed dose. *Maintain visual and audible communication with the patient during treatment.
*Maintain patient markings. Observe patient for unusual reactions and events and report accurate information to the nursing staff and/or Radiation Oncologist.
*Observe radiation safety measures for patient and personnel.
*Perform simulations.
*Assist in tumor localization procedures, preparation of immobilization devices, etc.
*Assist in dosimetry procedures (i.e. Prescription calculations).
*Obtain weekly port films and present such at chart rounds for review by Radiation Oncology staff.
*Assume weekly on- call status on a rotation basis. (Applies to Duke staff therapist only)
*Perform and document daily accelerator warm-up and QA procedures.(DRH and RCH)
*Maintain records of daily treatment and other records as required by department quality assurance and quality improvement activities.
*Perform mold room duties.(DRH and RCH)
*Secure and maintain supplies.
*Secure x-ray and lab reports as needed.
*Report erratic operation of equipment to Chief Radiation therapist, Radiation Physicist and/or Medical Engineer.
*Particpate in departmental PI (Performance Improvement) activities.
*Assist in the hiring and orienting of new personnel.
*Attend weekly QA rounds, monthly therapy meetings, and educational in-services.
*Incorporate department and hospital policies and procedures into care provided.
Required Qualifications at this LevelEducation
Satisfactory completion of a 24 month course in radiology technology and a 12 month course in radiation therapy technology; or
Satisfactory completion of a 24 month course in radiation therapy technology; or
Registered nurse who has satisfactorily completed a 12-month course in radiation therapy technology; or
Satisfactory completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in radiation therapy.
Experience
One year clinical training in Radiation Therapy.
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
Current licensure as required by state or national authority and/or certification or board eligible in Radiation Therapy by the American Registry of Radiology Technology.
Maintain ARRT certification in radiation therapy with a minimum of documented 12 hours of continuing education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge in principles, practices and procedures involved in the operation of ionizing radiographic and radiation therapy equipment.
Knowledge of the human anatomy and proper positioning of the patient to provide treatment as prescribed.
Ability to administer CPR in a medical emergency.

CT Technologist (PRN)
Location: Duke University Hospital

Work Schedule: PRN, with a minimum of four shifts per month and the option of 10-hour or 12-hour shifts
Duke University Health System seeks to hire an experienced or new graduate CT Technologist who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together. The Duke University Hospital (DUH) campus supports a 1067 bed hospital known for expertise in Inpatient, Urgent Outpatient, OR, Interventional, ED/Trauma, PEDS, Cardiac, Oncology, and Transplant services. We have a total of 20 clinical scanners, including 14 in various locations, 5 in the OR, and 1 portable scanner for Neuro ICU.
What you will do:
Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of CT scanners, power injectors, and related equipment in accordance with prescribed radiation safety procedures.
Position patients for CT scans using patient positioning devices and protective equipment as necessary.
Perform exams accurately per established protocols, policy, and patient safety standards.
Assist radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's, and injecting contrast, if applicable.
Assist radiologist with interventional CT procedures.
Evaluate CT scans for technical quality, collate processed images in sequence of exposure and appropriately label. Film/transmit to Image Archival System.
Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions.
Charge procedures and supplies in EHR.
Dispense and or order oral contrast to patients for CT scans.
Maintain accurate patient records.
Provide orientation and training to new CT technologists.
Provide care for the psychological and physical needs of patients and their families for CT scans.
Provide education and training to student technologists.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein.
Coordinate scheduling and patient flow
Demonstrate proficiency in IV placement for contrast administration.
Demonstrate proficiency and accuracy in performance of all exam protocols.
Assist with the education and training of new physicians (interns, residents, fellows, and attending's). If applicable.
Assist radiologists and PhD's in developing new protocols and CT imaging techniques that are unique to facility.
Perform CT specific technical assistance with projects assigned by supervisor including but not limited to: Team lead, R & D, protocol development, charge reconciliation and demonstration of equipment.

General Description of the Job Class
Perform a variety of technical activities associated with the performance of screening and diagnostic mammography procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Perform a variety of tasks involving the operation of mammographic radiographic equipment and other equipment/devices as appropriate.
Position patients, using immobilization when necessary. Calculate exposure factors, assist physicians.
Perform the quality control functions related to mammography.
Evaluate radiographs for diagnostic quality obtaining additional images as needed.
Prepare and set up medical supplies using aseptic techniques if appropriate. Explain procedures to patients.
Charge mammographic procedures and supplies in Maestro or EPIC.
Provide orientation to new Mammographers.

Demonstrate proficiency in performing all breast imaging procedures, to include breast interventional procedures.
Monitor mammography section procedures and supply charges to ensure completeness and accuracy.

Required Qualifications at this Level
Education
Graduate or completion of program that meets eligibility requirements for registry/certification or currently holds required registry or certification.
Technologists initially qualifying on or after April 28, 1999, must meet the Mammo-Specific requirements by having at least 40 hours of documented training in mammography.
Experience
Level I must obtain ARRT certification at time of employment.
Performance of a minimum of 25 mammography exams under direct supervision of an appropriate MQSA qualified individual. At least 8 hours of training in using any modality (e.g., digital) before beginning to use that modality independently.
Level II Minimum of two years' experience as a Mammography technologist. Must perform at least 200 mammography examinations in a 24 month period.
Level III A minimum of 4 years' experience within specialty modality in which they are seeking promotion
Degrees, Licensure, and/or Certification
ARRT certification in radiography
ARRT advanced certification in mammography
FDA/MQSA qualified to include meeting the MQSA CE requirements of at least 15 CEUs in a 36 month period that must include at least 6 CEUs in each mammographic modality used.

General Description of the Job Class
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CVIS) will utilize professional cardiovascular theory, technology and processes to implement direct patient care on adult patients that require diagnostic or therapeutic procedures within the cardiovascular service. Demonstrates role-specific competence and assists physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiac and peripheral vascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias in the CathLab, EP Lab, and Hybrid OR specializing in the care of patients undergoing angioplasty, stent placement, vascular procedures, mechanical support deviceplacement(IABP, non-durable ventricular assist device, etc.), EP devices, cardiac ablations, and tilt table exams.
Duties and Responsibilities of this Level
Assist the physician during invasive and noninvasive procedures to treat cardiac and peripheral vascular disease and cardiac arrhythmias. Maintain high standards to achieve quality patient care. Communicate continuously with the physician about the patient's condition.
May perform any of the following: diagnostic catheterization procedures on adult patients with known and suspected congenital and acquired cardiac and peripheral vascular disease. Interventional procedures which may include any of the following: PTCA, stent prep and placement, IABP placement and operation. EP proceduresmay include any of the following; EP studies, implantation of pacemaker, ICD, cardiacablations, and tilt table exams.
Procedural requirements: Room preparation and breakdown including but not limited to, radiographic, hemodynamic and computer setup, stocking rooms and room cleanup. Prepare sterile field appropriately for specified procedure type.
Evaluate the status of the patient during the procedure; provide age and gender specific care, prep access site according to lab standard practice, and perform EKGlead placement, blood pressure and pulse oximetry setup for hemodynamic monitoring.
Acquire and accurately document pertinent patient data in the electronic health record and enter into hemodynamic and X-ray systems.
Operate all physiologic and radiographic equipment safety and correctly. Assess procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness. Obtain supplies for individual cases and ensure all appropriate needs of the Cath Lab/EP Labteam are met. Observe occupational and radiation safety regulations (wearing dosimeter badges, lead aprons, goggles).
Educate the patient of procedure expectations before, during and after the procedure including post-procedural limitations and restrictions.
Participate in performance improvement activities.
Required Qualifications at this LevelEducation
A graduate of an associate or baccalaureate academic program in health science (including, but not limited to, cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology or respiratory therapy)
Or
A graduate of an associate or baccalaureate academic program in an unrelated field along with graduation from a certificate program in cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiology technology or respiratory.

Summary:
The MRI Technologist produces diagnostic MRI scans under the clinical direction of a Radiologist while taking responsibility for film quality, patient care, safety, sterile technique and providing education for staff and students. The Technologist participates in other necessary activities in support of departmental operations.
Responsibilities:
1. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all aspects of General Diagnostic Radiology, is familiar with and adheres to Departmental Protocols and Policy and Procedures of UNC Healthcare System, obtains RT(MR) credentials or is completing training to become credentialled and maintains active status.
2. Ensures that patient demographic, emulsion markers, and examination requested are correct, critiques, orients and saves all pertinent images, transmits QA-ed images to PACS, ensures that all images reach PACS, documents completion and/or cancellation of all procedures in RIS, documenting comments when appropriate, maintains image management equipment, reporting any equipment problem to appropriate resources, utilizes PACS and HIS system for obtaining additional study data.
