MRI Technologist II- Mon, Tues, Fri-3pm-3am **$15,000 Commitment bonus; $3000 relocation General Description of the Job Class Perform a variety of complex, specialized, and technical tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets. Duties and Responsibilities of this Level Screen patients for MR safety prior to procedure performance. Assist radiologist with procedure protocoling and performance. Start I.V.s, administer contrast media as directed and per protocol. Evaluate MR scans for technical quality, collate processed images and sequence of acquisition and label appropriately. Schedule patients for procedures; assist with clerical functions. Charge MR procedures and supplies in EHR Load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration. Maintain accurate patient records. Provide orientation for new technologists Provide education and training for student technologists. Provide for the psychological and physical needs of patients for MR procedures. Understand and use the Image Archival System Perform complex tasks associated with the operation of high field strength magnets and related equipment to produce special radiographic images of specific body parts. The Duke Multi-Dimensional Imaging Lab offers post-processing services for any Computed Tomography (CT) or Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) angiographic study scanned at our institution. We will also provide this service for any non-angiographic CT or MRI study with a valid order by an MD. Post-processing may include multi-planar reformations, maximum intensity projections, volume rendering, and quantitative analysis. Longitudinal reports will be provided on request to demonstrate changes in anatomical or pathological conditions over time. We also offer access to 3D tools for referring physicians, so they may interact with the exam data in real time. We are located in the Hock Plaza Building, near Duke Medical Center. Parking is available behind the building with advanced reservations. What you will do: Operate computer software for production of 3D images and multiplanar reconstructions from CT and MRI datasets for optimal visualization of patient's anatomic structures and pathology, using established 3D prost-processing protocols. Ensure that images requiring post processing or manipulation are networked to appropriate workstations, and processed images are networked to PACS and other viewing or archival systems in a timely manner. Perform a variety of advanced processing analysis of dicom data to include 3D and 4D reformations. Quantitative analysis and volume measurements of radiologic dicom image datasets and 3D printing. Manipulate digital medical images on advanced post processing workstations in multiple planes and dimensions for clinical visualization and quantitative analysis of diagnostic and interventional studies. Manage transfer of all image data to and from the Multi-D Lab workstations in an accurate and timely manner, and use the available radiology information systems to acquire relevant patient history and examination status. Be well versed in CT and MRI scanning technology, cross-sectional anatomy, and gross pathology. These skills and knowledge are essential to be able to identify artifacts in the images, and to be able to respond to clinicians' detailed requests for views depicting certain anatomy and/or pathology, measurements and guides to surgical planning. Use EPIC and Weblog to check patient medical history and update exam status, for tracking, order entry (when applicable) and billing purposes. Maintain confidentiality of Patient Health Information (PHI) in all Multi-D Lab Databases and reporting systems. Required systems access: Visage (PACS), and Electronic Medical Records (EMR), Powerscribe and multiple private drives for research and clinical purposes. Summary: The MRI Technologist produces diagnostic MRI scans under the clinical direction of a Radiologist while taking responsibility for film quality, patient care, safety, sterile technique and providing education for staff and students. The Technologist participates in other necessary activities in support of departmental operations. Responsibilities: 1. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge of all aspects of General Diagnostic Radiology, is familiar with and adheres to Departmental Protocols and Policy and Procedures of UNC Healthcare System, obtains RT(MR) credentials or is completing training to become credentialled and maintains active status. 2. Ensures that patient demographic, emulsion markers, and examination requested are correct, critiques, orients and saves all pertinent images, transmits QA-ed images to PACS, ensures that all images reach PACS, documents completion and/or cancellation of all procedures in RIS, documenting comments when appropriate, maintains image management equipment, reporting any equipment problem to appropriate resources, utilizes PACS and HIS system for obtaining additional study data. 3. Performs work in a timely manner, performs quality radiographic images on a consistent and on-going basis, analyzes request and draws appropriate conclusions for examination and action plan, reviews radiographic orders and images and correlates patient demographic information, ensuring accuracy of information, reviews daily schedule and/or status of patients waiting in department for examinations, maintains a clean and safe work environment, documents incidents and advises area supervisor of improvement opportunities for the work unit. 4. Uses RIS,CIS,PACS and SMS effectively and appropriately to access information and document status of procedures, modifies all necessary orders for appropriateness, completes exam in RIS System, QC's and transmits information to PACS, verifies that all information has arrive properly into PACS. 5. Verifies patient identity, obtains patient history relevant to examination order, verifies pregnancy status before administering ionizing radiation, assesses patients physical condition and develops an action plan for performing examination, assesses patients condition to determine if additionally medical personnel and or equipment is needed and takes appropriate action, assists patients that require extra attention, reacts to emergency situations, insures patient safety.
