Department Profile:
The Children's Health Center, Level 4/Valvano Day Hospital at Duke University Hospital is comprised of outpatient pediatric specialty clinics and an outpatient pediatric infusion area. Our team is active in delivering exemplary care for each patient to ensure an excellent patient experience, every time.
Level 4 of the Children's Health Center consists of clinics such as allergy/immunology, bone and marrow transplant, hematology/oncology, and liver transplant, along with a 12 hour/7 day-a-week infusion unit which services all pediatric outpatient infusions. Patient populations are both oncology and non-oncology, but chemotherapy certification is required within 6 months. Nurses hired for this unit work in both clinics and the infusion area.
Ambulatory and/or pediatric hematology/oncology/chemotherapy experience preferred.
Must have 1 full year of nursing experience.
Work Hours & Shifts:
Full Time: Mixed schedule of 8 and 12-hour shifts with occasional weekend rotation.
What you will do:
As a Clinical Nurse II in Duke University Health System, you will plan and provide professional nursing care for patients in accordance with the medical and nursing plans of care and established policies and procedures. Provide nursing services to patients and families in accordance with the scope of the RN as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
* Plan, provide, supervise and document professional nursing care utilizing the nursing process for patients in accordance with physician orders and established policies and procedures. We are seeking a Clinical Nurse II, preferably with strong clinical experience in developmental disabilities and adolescent mental health to work with a multidisciplinary team. Hillsborough CCU: The Critical Care Unit is an 18-bed, mixed acuity unit located on the beautiful Hillsborough campus, which opened in 2015. They provide care to adults of all ages within the surrounding community. This unit cares for a range of medical and surgical patients with critical care needs. The majority of patients are intermediate status, with complications such as Heart Failure, substance withdrawal, sepsis, mechanical ventilation, and respiratory disorders. About one-quarter of the unit volume are ICU level patients requiring vasoactive drips and mechanical ventilation. They also care for post-op surgical patients from the various surgical services provided in Hillsborough. This unit is responsible for responding to all Code Blues and Adult Rapid Responses for the Hillsborough campus. The CCU provides the highest level of Carolina Care to all patients and families it serves and has received the Carolina Care Service Award for top performer in the UNC Medical Center for the past 3 years.

Responsibilities:
1. Education--Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self. Attends education programs based on identified learning needs. Summary:
A Registered Nurse at Wayne UNC Health Care is a member of the patient care team who, with knowledge of the nursing process, provides leadership in applying scientific principles and professional skills aimed at caring for the ill, preventing disease and maintaining optimum health. The RN assists the provider in carrying out a therapeutic regimen for each patient and directs other licensed and non-licensed nursing teammates in providing nursing care to meet the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of individual patients.
