Eaton's ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Lead Utility Protection and ControlTechnician . In this role, our technicians work remote, travel up to 3 consecutive weeks at a time, and will work additional hours and occasional weekends when supporting client commissioning activities. Travel is primarily in the Northeast and northern Midwest based on customer requirements. A company vehicle is provided for both business and personal use.
The expected annual salary range for this role is $105,000 ($50.47 per hour) - $182,000 ($87.50 per hour) a year. **In addition to base salary, you are eligible for per diem and premium pay overtime.** Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. **What you'll do:**
As a Lead Utility Protection & Control (P&C) Technician, you'll oversee technical operations and documentation, including work plans, isolation plans, and functional test plans. This hands-on role involves comprehensive testing and final checkout, ensuring the highest standards of safety and reliability. As the P&C Lead Technician, you'll act as a crucial safeguard, identifying and correcting any errors from design or installation to protect employees, equipment and the integrity of transmission and distribution systems.
**In this position you will;**
+ Work around energized "In-Service" electrical equipment to perform testing and commissioning activities on reliability upgrades in energized "brownfield" transmission stations.
+ Develop isolation plans & procedures for the removal of existing equipment such as protective relays, relay panels, AC/DC panels, battery systems, breakers, transformers, SSVTs, CCVTs, PTs, CTs, and linear couplers
+ Communicate technical information to non-technical personnel, educate customers, and present information to internal and external customers.
+ Assist with all aspects of testing of substation devices and equipment
+ Identify and resolve design errors.
+ Directly witness or perform critical tests such as DC functional trip testing prior to energization and in-service.
+ Provide technical instructions, mentoring, and guidance regarding substation and electrical power systems to field personnel.
**Position Success Criteria:**
+ Successfully complete and maintain compliance with Eaton's safety qualification program and policy. This includes role-applicable portions of the EESS Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) program and any required annual re-certifications thereafter.
+ Submit to periodic customer required background and drug screenings.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
This Engineering position provides advanced Automation support to Engineering and Construction project teams. Responsibilities will include all phases of electrical and control systems project design, testing, and commissioning including reviewing P&IDs, electrical one lines, conduit and cable schedules, creating and reviewing facility instrumentation technical specifications and procurement data sheets, overseeing field installation, testing, and commissioning of equipment required for facility operation. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL NEEDED:

SCHEDULE: This is a 3rd shift position. The Energy Department workweek is on a rotating two (2) week schedule that provides employees work every other weekend as follows:
Schedule days of work - Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday / scheduled days off Thursday, Friday; followed by scheduled days of work Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday / scheduled days off Saturday, Sunday.
REPORTS TO: Supervisor, HVAC
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. To perform routine repairs and provide preventative maintenance on all heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment located in campus buildings, dormitories, townhouses, apartment complex and the Central Utilities Facilities complex. This involves:
Maintaining air handling units with filter replacements, pneumatic controls, exhaust fans, etc.
Familiarity with and ability to read electrical and mechanical Drawings.
Familiarity with low voltage controls and motor controls; familiarity with DDC controls (e.g., Alterton and Carrier Comfortworks),
Ensuring the adequate operation, temperature, pressure and safety of equipment,
Notifying supervisor of any abnormal pressures and temperatures before adjusting.
Interacting with contractors as needed.
2. Assist on installations of new or repaired equipment utilizing knowledge of electrical and mechanical techniques.
3. To be responsible for the cleanliness and safety of equipment rooms in designated buildings.
4. To complete appropriate documentation. This involves:
Assessing and completing requisitions on supplies needed for servicing,
Maintaining and logging accurate records on malfunctions and repairs.
5. To provide backup support if the Associate Director of Energy Services and the Supervisor, HVAC are absent.
6. To interact with the Associate Director of Energy Services and the Supervisor HVAC on major equipment problems and recommending corrective action.
7. To participate in the growth and development of the department. This involves:
Participating in regularly scheduled staff meetings and attending seminars as needed,
Promoting an image of efficiency and courtesy throughout the university community and consistent with the department's mission.
Providing recommendations on system modifications, upgrades, policies and procedures.
8. To promote safe and secure working conditions. This involves:
Promoting the proper utilization of equipment and materials.
Reporting immediately to supervisor any unsafe working conditions.
9. To perform other related duties as dictated or directed by responsibilities.
