ECM International was founded in 1983 in El Paso, Texas, by Tom Cardenas.
ECM was founded in September of 1988 by Edward “Ed” Meier as a six truck, twelve trailer operation in Springdale, PA, just outside of Pittsburgh.
Throughout the mid to late 1990´s, ECM expanded its core territory to cover the entire Mid-Atlantic region, growing both organically and through acquisition; as well as offering its customers over-the-road truckload and volume LTL services.
In 1994, ECM engaged in its first project for the City of El Paso –the project management of a large renovation and expansion of the El Paso International Airport.
In 2005, ECM announced its intentions to merge with privately held LTL carrier, PITT OHIO, to offer both customer bases an unmatched network of asset and non-asset based services for both LTL and Truckload.
In addition, ECM has managed multiple construction projects for the El Paso Water Utilities and the El Paso Electric Company. In 2007, ECM grew into the Federal government sector.
Since 2007, ECM has significant infrastructure experience in the transportation and utility sectors.
Understanding the critical link in the customer supply chain, ECM introduced on-board computing systems in each of its tractors in late 2007.
